Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with expertise in material handling equipment to join our team in Santiago. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, analyzing, and optimizing material handling equipment such as conveyor systems, feeders, stackers, reclaimers, spreaders shiploaders and others. This role involves working on engineering solutions for the mining and material handling industries and requires a proactive individual with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, analyze, and optimize conveyor systems and other material handling equipment.
Perform calculations for conveyor belt systems, including drive power, belt tensions, and structural loads.
Develop detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to analyze components and/or structures(advantageous).
Support project execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company specifications.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
Provide technical support for equipment commissioning and troubleshooting.
Travel occasionally to project sites and other company units across the glob
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
- 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in mining or with material handling equipment.
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and 3D modeling and simulation
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to create technical documentation
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, components, and materials science
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and industry standards
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and safety standards
- Fluency in English; Spanish language skills are a plus
