Tadano, a leading manufacturer of engineered lift solutions including boom trucks and sign cranes for the construction industry, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to join the Tadano team.

OVERVIEW:

The Mechanical Engineer III is responsible for the design and development of mechanical systems, hydraulic systems design and electrical systems design for machine controls used on crane construction equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Design and validation of new mechanical components used on boom truck, knuckle boom and industrial cranes

· Ability to complete machine integration with all electronic, hydraulic and mechanical functions.

· Self-motivated with a high level of initiative.

· Manages time effectively and is able to organize and prioritize work assignments to ensure they are completed on time and with quality.

· Strong problem solving skills; able to anticipate problem areas in advance.

· Creatively work within company standards and processes to solve problems with effective use of appropriate resources.

· Plan projects and monitor progress against program objectives, document designs, & perform as liaison with suppliers and other disciplines.

· Setup, perform, and document tests on components and machines.

· Support manufacturing with continuous improvement and problem resolution.

· Work is performed in office and shop environment. In the shop, employee may be exposed to heat, cold, dust, fumes, loud noises and air born particles. Employee may need to work some weekends extended hours based on the needs of the business.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

· Minimum of 10 years in the field of engineering within the crane industry

Experience and skills:

· Proficient in the design & development of electrical and hydraulic schematics.

· Experience in the design & development of mechanical components (i.e sub-frames, turret structures, outriggers and booms)

· Proficient in weldment designs, AWS D1.1 a plus.

· Strong knowledge of truck chassis integration.

· Proficient in standard manufacturing processes (assembling/welding)

· Proficient in Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

· Proficient with CAD tools such as Solidworks & Draftsite is required.

· Proficient in most Microsoft Office programs.

· Proficient with hydraulics.

· Strong communication skills both written and verbal, presentation skills, & ability to collaborate in a team-based environment.

· Effective project management skills and the ability to implement change; engaging others in the organization as necessary.

· Ability to start/finish projects on their own

· Ability to collaborate with a team of engineers on a project

· Knowledge of Epicor ERP system (Epicor Kinetic) a plus.
