The DH Mechanical Engineer delivers device handling solutions to customers across the SEA region, with a primary focus on handler features, Change Kits (CK), and docking interface solutions.
This role also partners closely with the Sales team to expand the DH business by driving growth of the handler install-base through solution development, technical consultation, and active customer engagement.
Job responsibilities
1. Design & Project Execution
- Act as technical lead in collaborating with designers, R&D teams and customers to deliver robust and scalable device handling solutions, including handler features, Change Kit (CK), and docking interface designs.
- Lead design concept development consultation and conduct customer-facing design reviews to drive technical alignment and approval.
- Define and own customer-specific design standards, ensuring consistency, quality and reusability across multiple projects and accounts.
- Demonstrate strong competency in CAD design, simulation and documentation governance serving as technical reference for best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across handling solutions, CK and Docking interface, incorporating field feedback and engineering lessons learned.
- Lead end-to-end project execution, including planning, risk management, progress tracking and cross-functional coordination to ensure on-time delivery, production readiness and customer acceptance.
2. Cross-Functional & Customer Collaboration
- Work closely with PS/TSE teams and customers to optimize handler performance and system reliability.
- Support CK/Docking buy-off for acceptance.
- Lead escalation support for CK/Docking and handling-related issues and driving structured containment actions, root-cause analysis and long-term corrective solutions.
- Proactively review and ensure product performance goals are met and contribute recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and technical robustness.
- Provide one-stop engineering support for device interface-related matters, including device, change kit, socket, load board, and docking interfaces.
3. Business & Sales Support
- Partner with Sales team as a senior technical advisor to support expansion of DH business and growth of the installed base (IB).
- Provide specification requirements, part numbers, and configurations for feature, CK, Docking quotations.
- Maintain clear and continuous visibility of CK IB tracking, providing insights to support capacity planning and sales strategy.
4. Customer Management
- Build and sustain trusted customer relationships to drive long-term satisfaction, loyalty and repeat business.
- Provide clear, customer objective and market insights to management by identifying business opportunities, technical challenges, risks areas.
- Lead technical, product and service presentations to customers.
5. Strategic Initiatives
- Actively support company direction in promoting SMART Test Cell and SMART Factory solutions to customers and business partners.
- Contribute engineering perspectives to roadmap discussions, technology adoption and next-generation solution development.
- Degree in Mechanical / Mechatronic / Thermal / Automation Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years working experiences in mechanical design or mechatronic/ Automation
- Fluent in CAD software 2D (AutoCAD, Cadra), PLM (NX, TC)
- Good mechanical design knowledge and basic electrical knowledge.
- Willingness to work flexible or non-standard hours, with intensive travel requirements.
- Overseas assignments or project support.
- Ability to travel at short notice to address urgent or emergency customer support needs.
Skills Required
- Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Thermal, or Automation Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical design, mechatronics, or automation
- Fluency in 2D CAD software, including AutoCAD and Cadra
- Experience with PLM software, including NX and Teamcenter
- Good mechanical design knowledge
- Basic electrical knowledge
- Willingness to work flexible or non-standard hours
- Willingness to undertake intensive travel
- Willingness to support overseas assignments or projects
- Ability to travel at short notice for urgent or emergency customer support
