We are seeking a motivated Mechanical or Aerospace Engineer to join our Vacuum Technologies R&D team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, verification, and validation of dry scroll vacuum pumps and rotary vane vacuum pumps, supporting new product development as well as sustaining engineering activities.
The role will focus on the design and development of vacuum pump components and assemblies, with particular emphasis on structural and rotodynamic analysis, leveraging simulation tools and experimental methods to ensure product performance, reliability, and durability. The engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including design engineering, manufacturing, testing, and product management throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for scroll and rotary vane vacuum pumps.
- Perform structural analyses using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to evaluate strength, stiffness, fatigue life, and reliability of components and systems.
- Conduct rotodynamic analyses to assess vibration behavior, critical speeds, dynamic stability, and overall system performance, with a strong focus on reducing noise and vibration levels.
- Plan, execute, and analyze experimental validation activities to correlate simulation results with physical testing.
- Support noise and vibration investigations through data acquisition and analysis.
- Develop test plans, analyze results, and generate technical reports and recommendations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and drive product improvements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of analytical methodologies, simulation processes, and testing capabilities.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions related to field and manufacturing issues.
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
- Typically 4+ years of relevant experience in mechanical product development, analysis, or validation engineering.
- Experience in mechanical design and development of rotating machinery or electromechanical systems.
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Proficiency with CAD software and structural simulation tools; experience with ANSYS is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of rotordynamics, vibration analysis, and dynamic behavior of rotating systems.
- Experience with experimental testing and validation, including noise and vibration data acquisition and analysis.
- Familiarity with test instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems.
- Ability to interpret test data and correlate experimental results with simulation models.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and international engineering environment.
Nice to have:
- Experience with vacuum technology, scroll pumps, rotary vane pumps, compressors, or similar rotating equipment.
Pay range:
The position is classified at Levels B1 or B2 under the CCNL Industria metalmeccanica e della installazione di impianti – Cod. C011, which defines minimum salary levels, pay progression, and working conditions
