Job DescriptionWe are seeking a competent and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Facility Management team responsible for the effective operation, maintenance, and performance of mechanical systems
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the operation, maintenance, and performance of mechanical systems and equipment within the facility.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for mechanical assets.
- Supervise the maintenance of HVAC systems, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, plumbing systems, generators, fire-fighting systems, and other mechanical equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections, diagnose faults, and coordinate timely corrective actions.
- Monitor contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with SLAs, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment, maintenance activities, faults, repairs, and spare parts.
- Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, statutory regulations, and facility maintenance standards.
- Monitor energy and equipment performance and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost optimisation.
- Prepare maintenance reports and provide recommendations on equipment replacement, repairs, and improvements.
- Support the Facility Manager in ensuring the smooth and reliable operation of the mall.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience, preferably in facility management, commercial buildings, shopping malls, hospitality, manufacturing, or similar environments.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of HVAC, chillers, pumps, plumbing, fire-fighting systems, and other mechanical building services.
- Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance and maintenance planning.
- Experience supervising technicians, contractors, and service providers.
- Good knowledge of CMMS, maintenance documentation, and reporting.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional certification or membership of a relevant engineering body will be an advantage.
- Candidates resident in Kano or willing to relocate to Kano will be preferred.
- Good professional appearance and attitude.
- Diplomatic, tactful, discreet, flexible, resourceful and dependable
- Excellent leadership and project management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Outstanding organizational skills

Skills Required
