Job Description:
Mechanical Engineer Intern
Location: Flagstaff, AZ (this is an in-person position)
Department: Engineering
Compensation: $20/hour
Position Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer Intern will assist the Mechanical Engineering team with engineering change requests (MCRs), non-conformance reports (NCRs), engineering support, emergency response tasks (ERT), and design changes. The intern will also complete small purchase-order-driven engineering projects.
Schedule: About 8 hours per week during school with some flexibility and 40 hours per week during holiday periods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support completion of MCRs and NCRs.
- Assist with design changes and engineering support tasks using Solidworks and PDM.
- Complete small engineering projects, as assigned.
- Collaborate with team members on ad-hoc projects.
Qualifications:
- Availability throughout the school year; ideally not graduating for at least one year from start date.
- Strong SolidWorks capability demonstrated through tool test.
- Fundamental understanding of algebra and statistical concepts.
- Ability to apply logical thinking to solve basic engineering problems and interpret technical data.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Primarily office-based near a manufacturing facility.
- Occasional exposure to noise, vibrations, or odors from the production area.
- Requires adherence to safety protocols and PPE when entering the manufacturing floor.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods, use a computer, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
