Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations through autonomous and intelligent platforms.

At Saronic, the systems that keep our facilities running — from climate-controlled manufacturing environments to complex process utilities and industrial piping — are just as critical as the autonomous vessels we're building. We're looking for an experienced, licensed mechanical engineer to take ownership of the mechanical infrastructure that supports our most demanding operations.

This role offers real breadth and real ownership. You'll define company-wide standards for HVAC, plumbing, process utilities, and piping systems, and you'll apply that expertise across the full capital project lifecycle — from early programming and scope development all the way through field commissioning. You won't be a passive reviewer; you'll be the internal authority that shapes how our facilities are designed and built, and the go-to expert that third-party engineers and contractors look to for direction.

Industrial mechanical systems are complex, and we know it. If you have experience with specialty exhaust systems, emissions abatement, or the nuanced interplay of ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, and NFPA requirements in a manufacturing or industrial setting, you'll find plenty of technically interesting problems to solve here. And if you're energized by the idea of building something from the ground up — standards, systems, and teams — this is the right environment for it.

If you're a PE with a strong industrial background who wants high ownership, technically rich work, and the chance to make a lasting impact at a company on the cutting edge of maritime defense, we'd love to connect.

Responsibilities:
  • Own the development and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, process utilities, process piping and other mechanical design and construction standards for the company.

  • Participate in the early programming and development of various capital project scopes of work and documentation of project requirements with a focus on mechanical systems.

  • Support development and issuance of requests for proposals and qualifications for various capital projects to 3rd party engineers, architects, design-build contractors and general contractors.

  • Review and comment on 3rd party mechanical designs for capital projects and provide owner based subject matter specialist (SMS) input and direction to internal and external teams.

  • Provide internal design, system, equipment sizing, and design documentation on small capital projects as needed.

  • Complete field visits during capital construction projects to represent owner and observe general mechanical installation and commissioning activities.

  • Design management of small capital projects as needed.

  • Travel anticipated to be up to 10% of the time for project specific visits.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or greater in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, or a related field.

  • Licensed engineer (PE preferred).

  • 5+ years of design, commissioning, and/or construction of HVAC, plumbing, industrial utility and process piping systems for industrial and manufacturing projects.

  • Experience with the design of industrial specialty exhaust systems and emissions abatement preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of building and energy codes including but not limited to IBC, IMC, IECC, IFC, IPC, ASHRAE, and NFPA as well as associated industry standards and code referenced technical guidelines.

  • Proficient in developing design standards, technical project requirements documents, requests for proposals. Experience with completing 3rd party design reviews and directing engineering, production and construction teams.

  • Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred.

  • Demonstrated success developing innovative solutions to a broad range of mechanical engineering problems.

  • Experience with the entire capital project life cycle.

  • Design management experience preferred.

Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Occasional standing and walking within the office

  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment

  • Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports

  • Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies

  • Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)

  • Can safely travel and visit active industrial sites and active construction projects on occasional basis.

Benefits:
  • Medical Insurance: Comprehensive health insurance plans covering a range of services
