JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
JOB DUTIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
What You Will Do with JT4
The Instrumentation Design Engineer will perform a variety of engineering tasks in design, development, manufacturing, testing, installation, integration, sustainment, operations, and maintenance of software, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment and systems. Work will involve some evaluation, originality, or ingenuity and is generally performed as a member of a development, sustainment, or operations and maintenance team.
Functions - Duties
- Perform as a leader of development, sustainment, and effectively coordinate operations and engineering technicians as a team on more complex engineering assignments.
- Independently perform a range of design, development, analysis, or review tasks under generally established project deadlines.
- Plan and carry out successive engineering steps and resolve technical problems by standard practices and techniques, such as tolerance studies and design calculations.
- Generates complete sections of design specifications for more complex projects, while also supporting projects with a limited scope by preparing documents based on detailed instructions.
- Conduct research on equipment or systems, using computer-assisted test methods.
- Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures according to Edwards AFBI 21-126.
- Keeps informed of and studies currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to the engineering specialty.
- Prepare, deliver, and submit technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings.
- Acts as liaison for design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
- Provide crucial mechanical design support for the Global Power Bomber, ensuring all program requirements and critical deadlines are met through diligent and proactive engagement.
Experience
- Professional knowledge of applicable mechanical engineering concepts and principles.
- Knowledgeable in related engineering practices in aircraft design and materials.
- Possesses the practical knowledge required to modify current or new designs with specific requirements that range from simple to complex difficulty.
- Knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools (SolidWorks).
- Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines.
REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
The candidate must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution with four years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited Master of Science in Engineering with two years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering. The candidate will be required to qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and must have a valid, current state driver's license. Must have or be able to obtain a DOD security clearance. Must be able to obtain special access. Must be a U.S. citizen.
SALARY
The expected salary range for this position is $97,000 to $140,000 annually.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Routine travel to remote company locations may be required. This role necessitates the capability to work in a field environment, encompassing shift work, overtime, travel to remote locations, and frequent exposure to various weather conditions, temperature extremes, drafts, and noise.
