The Mechanical Engineer II is a broad role that requires working on a variety of engineering programs in the Themed Entertainment Industry supporting Ride and Show systems. The role works on projects for large and small customers to meet the customers timelines. The Mechanical Engineer II works in a team environment to understand each customer’s unique needs and will perform independent project tasks and collaborate with customers and team members. This position is located in Orlando, Florida, and focusing on the preferred qualifications listed below.

Responsibilities

  • Translate customer needs to design requirements and to feasible design concepts and apply relevant engineering analysis to design components and subsystems
  • Manage CAD resources to develop 3D models and 2D prints
  • Develop & execute Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Validation Plan & Report (DVP&R) documents
  • Conduct hardware development tasks and testing, while supporting prototype, pre-production, and production builds
  • Manage build-to-print and full-service suppliers
  • Utilize Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) team or resources to analytically validate designs
  • Document & report status internally and externally to customers
  • Provide engineering recommendations, with proposed actions and suggested priorities, for the resolution of operational and mechanical problems
  • Work with other disciplines to provide inputs such as power requirements, facility interface, interconnect, sensors, connectors, etc.
  • Design related to stress, load conditions, acceleration and velocity, duty cycle, torque, and basic engineering related calculations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering work experience
  • Functional proficiency to 3D model and draft in SolidWorks
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical data to various audiences and to work in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide robust solutions to complex problems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Themed entertainment industry engineering work experience
  • Manufacturing experience including machining, metal forming, code welding and composites
  • Interpretation and application of ASTM-F24 standards
  • Working knowledge of simulation and finite element analysis (FEA) in SolidWorks or other computer applications
  • Working knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
  • Working knowledge, understanding and application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
