Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Development: Lead the generation of mechanical concepts and execute detailed mechanical design for new products and product enhancements.
- CAD Modeling & Prototyping: Develop and maintain complex 3D models using SolidWorks. Use these models to drive hands-on prototyping and validation processes.
- Design Optimization: Expertly apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to ensure design feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and production reliability.
- Analysis & Validation: Conduct engineering analyses, including the application of Design tolerance and stack up analysis, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), to ensure component fit and function. Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS to validate structural performance.
- Documentation: Manage and execute all detailed design documentation, including 2D Drawings, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Bills of Materials (BOMs), and detailed design specifications.
- Manufacturing & Assembly: Manufacture and assemble production components, applying strong hands-on skills and expertise in using hand tools and shop equipment.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with Software, System, manufacturing, testing, and other cross-functional teams to successfully transition designs from concept through full production.
Requirements:
- BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design or product development engineering.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software, specifically SolidWorks. [CATIA v5 is a Bonus]
- Expertise in generating accurate 2D drawings and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
- Deep understanding and practical application of mechanical design principles, including DFM and DFA.
- Previous professional experience working directly with manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated experience and hands-on skills in component manufacturing, assembly, and use of hand tools.
- Experience with performing FEA using tools like SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS.
- Solid knowledge of various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, sheet metal fabrication, Additive manufacturing [FDM and SLA]).
- Proven ability to work on multiple tasks and maintain strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
