Job DescriptionThe primary responsibility of this role is to perform advanced FEA in support of global John Crane product design groups and the Innovation New Product Development (NPD) teams.
Utilizing the latest theoretical knowledge, methods, and computer modelling techniques, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to serve a broad range of development and engineering support projects, covering the entire John Crane product portfolio.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct FEA in support of product design engineers (Mechanical Seals, Filtration Systems, Test Rigs, etc.).
• Determine the most appropriate study, survey, investigation and/or test to be performed to existing and new products in coordination with relevant technology manager(s) or field representative(s).
• Develop advanced new products or product ideas, contribute to technical innovation activities and idea generation
• Keep abreast of new technology to obtain state-of-the-art technologies dealing with appropriate JC products and upgrade analytical/application tools for appropriate technology/sales personnel.
• Keep up to date with the development of advanced analysis and simulation technology/methodology
• Perform other related duties as required to support technology initiatives.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 1+ years industry experience in FEA .
- Experience with FEA commercial packages (ANSYS preferred).
- Very strong general mechanical engineering knowledge, and in particular structural analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters in Mechanical Engineering.
- Prior FEA experience with mechanical seals, polymer seals, or turbomachinery.
