Summary: Develops mechanical designs for concrete molds, tooling, and manufacturing processes. Interprets sales orders and engineering requirements to create mold concepts, drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and related product data. Utilizes reverse-engineering techniques to support mold design and product development. Leads engineering projects, assists with R&D initiatives, and provides technical guidance to engineering technicians and drafters while promoting best practices and achieving department goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads advanced 3D CAD modeling and mechanical design, ensuring form, fit, function, manufacturability, and performance requirements are met.
- Develops and reviews complex components, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Leads prototype testing, analyzes results, identifies root causes, and implements design improvements.
- Demonstrates advanced proficiency in primary and secondary CAD systems, including digital scanning, surface modeling, and product development.
- Creates and maintains Product Structures, Item Masters, ECRs, and RCCAs with a high degree of accuracy.
- Provides technical leadership, mentoring, and design review support to engineering team members.
- Provides technical expertise and problem-solving support to Manufacturing, Sales, Quality, and other internal customers.
- Leads or contributes to projects and initiatives that improve quality, reduce cost, increase efficiency, and support on-time delivery.
- Reviews engineering work and documentation to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with requirements.
- Maintains required CAD certifications and participates in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Supports team objectives, takes ownership of complex assignments, and performs other duties as assigned.
- Travel up to 10% - Customer Care and Sales field support
- Understand Divisional Product line sufficiently to support Customer Care and Sales in the field
- Understand Industry concepts sufficiently to take part in competitive field surveys
- Closely assist Service internally and externally on mold service and troubleshooting issues.
