Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 4 10s, 5:00 am- 3:30 pm

Pay: $80,500 - $110,000 *depending on experience

Job Summary

Apply mechanical engineering knowledge to the design, development and/or promotion of Wagstaff casting equipment. 

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Participate to define the mechanical engineering and equipment requirements for the design of new casting equipment and technologies
  • Oversee production of design documents necessary for handoff of designs to production according to documented design procedures
  • Find solutions to problems using brainstorming and academic work to develop new equipment
  • Review Equipment Design and Drawings for compliance with the Guidelines for Handling Molten Aluminum as set forth by the Aluminum Association, Inc.
  • Provide documented technical and analytical evaluations for the design solutions as part of the project file, keeping safety, functionality, and cost effectiveness paramount
  • Ability to implement effective decision-making in a time-sensitive environment
  • Mentor newly-hired and other employees as directed 
  • Periodic domestic and international travel required depending upon customer and company business needs
  • In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required 
  • Abide by company policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering required 
  • Minimum of three (3) years related Mechanical Engineering experience

  • Designs a complete project, system, component, or process of moderate complexity
  • Prepare complete project documents
  • Subject matter expert in particular area(s)

Leadership Skills

  • Assigns tasks to and coordinates work with Engineers level 1 and Designers Coordinates with other departments as necessary
  • Plans and coordinates detail aspects of the engineering work. Monitors scopes and schedules for assignments

Direction Received

  • Receives general direction on key objectives
  • Receives guidance when necessary on unconventional or complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria

Communication Skills

  • Demonstrated oral and technical writing skills
  • Lead technical project meetings with Customer and present specific aspects of engineering solution
  • Represents their organization at important functions or conferences

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job on Wagstaff premises, work is performed primarily in an adequately lit, well ventilated, climate controlled general office environment. Close computer work is regularly required. The work usually involves minimal physical exertion. The noise level in the general office environment is usually moderate.  

This job may require occasional or more frequent interaction with employees on the manufacturing shop floor. While on the shop floor, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of moving equipment and parts, and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment. Because of this environment and associated risks, coordination with shop floor managers/employees may be necessary before entering the shop floor, and use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required on the shop floor. The noise level on the shop floor is often loud.

This job may also require occasional or more frequent travel to and work at customer sites. While at customer sites, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of moving equipment and parts, and other risks associated with a construction and/or manufacturing environment. Because of this environment and associated risks, coordination with customer managers/employees may be necessary before entering the customer site, and use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required at customer sites.
