Job Description:

Job Summary:   Designs, develops, creates models/assemblies with CAD for various types of HVAC equipment.

Essential Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Uses computer design software (CAD) to develop models and drawings.
  • Generate conceptual and preliminary drawings to be used for development of product.
  • Tasked with updates and revisions to existing designs, as well as assist with new product design.
  • Designer will help to troubleshoot issues on the line.
  • Keeps up with the processing of orders in house (SPAS).
  • Expected to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under guidance of other design Engineers.
  • Will be competent in independent work.
  • Confers with engineering management to complete assigned projects.
  • Collaborates with Engineers, management, and other creative departments to determine design solutions.
  • Provides complete bill of material by defining when, where, and why parts are used.
  • Maintains and builds professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, or participating in professional societies.
  • Travels when necessary

Education and Experience Requirements:

Degree(s):  Two-year technical degree preferred.

License(s):  None

Certification(s):  None

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in the HVAC industry or equivalent experience in a similar industry.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Lift up to 50lbs.
  • Sit or stand for up to 95 percent of work hours.
  • Periodic visits to the manufacturing facility with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.

Skills Required

  • 3-5 years experience in the HVAC industry or equivalent
  • Proficient with CAD to develop models and drawings
  • Experience generating conceptual and preliminary drawings
  • Familiarity with in-house order processing (SPAS)
  • Two-year technical degree
  • Ability to troubleshoot production line issues
  • Able to work independently and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to create and maintain complete bill of materials (BOM)
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and sit or stand for extended periods (up to 95% of work hours)
  • Willingness to travel when necessary
