Mechanical Design Specialist – European Chiller Engineering Team
What you will do
As a Mechanical Design Specialist, you will play a key role in the design and development of industrial chiller products for the European market. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining detailed 3D designs in Creo, ensuring that products comply with European regulations, internal engineering standards, manufacturing requirements, and customer specifications.
Working as part of the European Chiller Engineering Team, you will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, suppliers, and production facilities to deliver robust, manufacturable products. This role requires strong technical expertise combined with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing-based mechanical design, with experience developing products that can be efficiently produced and assembled in a manufacturing environment.
How you will do It
Take ownership of mechanical design activities for assigned projects from concept through production release.
Create and maintain detailed 3D models and assemblies in Creo, ensuring compliance with European regulations, engineering standards, and product requirements.
Develop manufacturable designs that align with production capabilities and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
Design and position major chiller components, including piping systems, structural elements, sheet metal assemblies, and mechanical subsystems.
Collaborate with manufacturing plants in Izmir and Nantes to understand production requirements and constraints, including pipe routing, bend radii, sheet metal fabrication requirements, assembly methods, and manufacturing capabilities.
Ensure all designs are accurately managed and controlled within the PDM system, following company document control and revision processes.
Work closely with engineering, operations, procurement, and suppliers to understand available technologies, components, and materials and incorporate them into product designs.
Research and resolve technical issues involving engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and production teams.
Review and apply engineering standards, manufacturing specifications, and regulatory requirements throughout the design process.
Support development of drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), and product documentation.
Identify design risks proactively and implement solutions to support successful project execution.
Effectively communicate design intent and technical solutions across multiple functions and international teams.
Mentor and support junior designers and drafters by sharing technical expertise and design best practices.
Assist engineering teams with component selection, airflow considerations, heat transfer requirements, weight distribution, and electromechanical system integration.
