Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Mechanical Design Integration Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.
As a Mechanical Design Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering the architecture layouts, development of structures, thermal management, and electrical interfaces, integration of the subcontracted bus and payloads, and successful test and delivery of the space vehicle.
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Perform requirements definition, conceptual design, preliminary / layout, and detail design, drawing release, design review presentations, and support to fabrication/integration
- Resolve system level issues and constraints, such as thermal, dynamics, and critical clearances
- Perform bus equipment layout, payload layout, preliminary cable and harness routing (DC, RF, Waveguide)
- Work closely with stress, manufacturing, M&P and test to develop design requirements, define structural load paths, develop CAD models and prepare engineering drawings to fabricate flight and structural test articles.
- Interface with other cross-functional groups, customers, and vendors
- Provide I&T Sustaining support
- Supports Program milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, IDR etc.) and Gate Closure/Lien Closures
- Support cost and schedule reporting associated to SOW
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) degree with 2+ years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in STEM with at least 6 months of engineering experience
- Must have an active SCI Access at the time of application or an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company, prior to the start date.
- Prior work experience in aerospace subsystems design and integration, mechanical design integration, or related engineering experience.
- Proficiency in a CAD system.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with spacecraft integration and test
- Active U.S. Government TS/SCI clearance
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 or Siemens NX

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
