Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Industrial Automation Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic Systems Solutions team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing mechanical systems and components for advanced industrial automation solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, a passion for innovation, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Create detailed designs for mechanical systems, assemblies, and components used in industrial automation projects, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- System Integration: Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to integrate mechanical designs into complete automation systems.
- Prototyping & Testing: Develop prototypes, conduct tests, and analyze performance data to validate designs and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- CAD Modeling: Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent) to create 3D models and detailed engineering drawings.
- Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials and manufacturing processes to meet design requirements, considering cost, durability, and performance.
- Problem Solving: Troubleshoot mechanical issues during development and deployment, providing innovative solutions to overcome challenges.
- Documentation: Generate and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including BOMs, technical specifications, and assembly instructions.
- Compliance: Ensure designs meet applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and customer-specific requirements.
- Project Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, vendors, and clients to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within the industrial automation or manufacturing sector.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD).
- Knowledge of industrial automation systems, including robotics, conveyors, and machine mechanisms.
- Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) and simulation tools.
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, welding, 3D printing).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and precision.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified SolidWorks Professional, Lean Six Sigma) are a plus.
