The engineer will be responsible for driving the end-to-end development of innovative mechanical products, from initial ideation and feasibility analysis through to detailed design and verification. This role bridges the gap between theoretical research and practical manufacturing, ensuring new designs meet performance, reliability, and cost targets before mass production. We are looking for mechanical engineers who are mathematically and mechanically minded, have strong analytical and critical thinking abilities and detailed knowledge of engineering and design principles, ready to find creative solutions to technical problems.
This role includes, among others:
- Meeting with internal clients and design teams to determine mechanical applications and requirements.
- Conducting research to inform the design and engineering methods required for the mechanical systems.
- Planning and executing mechanical designs using CAD.
- Performing computer simulations and experiments to virtually test and refine the designs.
- Develop and manufacture physical prototypes for testing.
- Documenting the design process, iterations, and test analytics.
- Liaising with internal clients, designers, engineers, and manufacturers to ensure coherence.
- Preparing technical reports, design specifications documents, and operational manuals.
- Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in technology, design trends, and engineering best practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
- MEng in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Experience in CAD and mechanical modelling (OnShape or Solidworks)
- Experience of assembly, fasteners, tooling, and best practices in mechanical design
- Using standard lab test equipment, test methods, setting up testing, best practices and validate results
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience using additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping techniques
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing methods, and the design needs for high cycle numbers
Desirable:
- Background within solid mechanics, statics, fracture and fatigue
- Knowledge of Mechatronics is a nice to have
- “Hands on” experience in workshop environment is a nice to have
