The Role
Designs and develops mechanical systems, enclosure structures, payload integration platforms, and mechanisms for aerospace or satellite applications. Performs FEA and structural simulations, creates CAD models and technical documentation, selects materials, oversees fabrication and assembly, coordinates environmental testing, and participates in design reviews to validate performance and compliance.
Summary Generated by Built In
- Design and develop mechanical systems for enclosure structures, including the payload integration platforms and mechanisms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define mechanical requirements and integrate subsystems into the overall system design.
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulations to evaluate the structural integrity of designs against operational loads.
- Develop and maintain detailed design documentation, including CAD models, assemblies, and technical specifications.
- Oversee the fabrication and assembly of mechanical components, and coordinate testing to validate design performance.
- Conduct design reviews and evaluations to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within the aerospace or satellite industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, SolidWorks) for 3D modeling and mechanical design.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., Calculix, PrePoMax) for structural evaluation and optimization.
- In-depth knowledge of materials used in aerospace applications and the ability to select appropriate materials based on thermal and mechanical requirements.
- Familiarity with environmental testing standards for space applications, including thermal vacuum testing, vibration testing, and shock testing.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to design challenges.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Passion for space and telecom technology and a commitment to achieving high-quality design solutions.
