This secondment is a chance to step into the engine room of the Submarines business at a moment that truly matters. The Propulsor project is delivering work that is high-profile, time-critical and central to the overall continuity of the continuous at-sea deterrent (CASD).
This is an environment where initiative counts, practical engineering judgement is valued, and the ability to navigate the design process with skill to unblock process and maintain momentum is paramount.
This 12-month secondment offers accelerated learning & development, exposure to senior stakeholders, and the chance to demonstrate leadership, adaptability, and technical depth under pressure. The opportunity is ideal for the engineer who thrives in fast-moving situations and who wants to be recognised as the person able to step up and deliver solutions.
What you will be doing:
- Designing and delivering components and sub-assemblies which constitute the Dreadnought Class Propulsor to support required-in-yard date.
- Performing engineering calculations, tolerance analysis and design validation activities
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Materials, Project and Chief Engineering
- Participating in and holding design reviews, risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives
- Managing engineering change and maintaining accurate design records & documentation
- Providing technical support to production, suppliers and customers as required
Position Qualifications:
- Relevant Engineering/Science degree and Chartered Engineer
- Knowledge of the design approval & change control processes
- Knowledge of product safety cases and regulatory processes
- Knowledge of through life management requirements
- Project management skills
To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
Ideally, the candidate will hold or be willing to attain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance due to the sensitive nature of the product.
Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
