The Role
Job Description SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr Principal Engineer - Mechanical to oversee and guide our mechanical design and investigation team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with a special focus on Safety mechanisms, suspended mass safety, design and process FMEAs, structural analysis, modeling and thermal FEA. This role involves overseeing the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, quality and performance.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review new mechanical systems and components focusing on Safety elements.
  • Conduct and oversee investigations related to mechanical failures, performance issues, and design improvements.
  • Perform detailed analysis and simulations of suspended mass systems to ensure stability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Provide independent reviews of mechanical design for the MI and other business units, such as the CT BU.
  • Develop and maintain high quality processes for design documentation, including specifications, drawings, and test plans.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and suspended mass analysis technologies.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in mechanical design, FEA, Tolerance analysis, GD&T and motion control mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a technical leadership role.
  • Proven experience and deep understanding in XFMEA’s and failure investigations.
  • Proven expertise in suspended mass of dynamic and rotational systems.
  • Experience in thermal analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
