Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Mechanical CAD Specialist to join our team, focusing on mechanical and structural heavy steel fabrication. In this role, you will work on high-impact infrastructure projects, producing detailed designs, schematics, and layouts that meet the highest standards of accuracy and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce mechanical and structural CAD designs for heavy steel fabrication projects.
  • Create detailed hydraulic schematics, mechanical layouts, and fabrication drawings.
  • Develop 3D models and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor, Revit, and AutoCAD.
  • Ensure drawings comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to refine designs and resolve technical challenges.
  • Revise and update existing drawings based on engineering changes and client feedback.
  • Support the development of project documentation, specifications, and bill of materials.
  • Coordinate with fabrication teams to ensure manufacturability and efficiency in design.
  • Perform quality checks on CAD work to ensure precision and accuracy.
  • Contribute to design innovation and process improvements within the team.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of CAD design experience in mechanical and structural heavy steel fabrication.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, Revit, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulics, schematics, and mechanical design drafting principles.
  • Experience working in hybrid environments with multidisciplinary teams.
