About this Opportunity: 

This position manages mechanical/electro-mechanical assembly areas with the Assembly Value Stream in a fast-paced production setting. The Mechanical Assembly Supervisor has significantly more experience, skill, and knowledge than the Mechanical Assembly Technician and is responsible for assigning assembly tasks within the mechanical assembly area. This position is responsible for leading daily assembly operations and works cross-functionally to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and delivery objectives are achieved. This role supervises assembly personnel, coordinates production activities, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with company standards and manufacturing procedures. 

Responsibilities:

• Ensure parts and assemblies meet or exceed company and customer workmanship and quality standards
• Coordinate labor allocation based on production priorities, capacity, and operation cycle times
• Monitor workflow, bottlenecks, and line balance
• Partner cross-functionally to drive schedule attainment and on-time delivery (OTD) KPIs
• Coordinate manufacturing schedule with other supervisory personnel
• scalate material shortages, equipment downtime, and production risks
• Conduct daily production meetings and shift handoffs
• Maintain accurate production records and reporting metrics
• Able to make fact-based decisions and use good judgement to foster short- and long-term business success
• Ensure compliance to and enforce all company and customer Quality and Safety policies and procedures
• Investigate safety incidents and implement corrective actions
• Maintain a safe, clean, and professional department
• Mediate and resolve personnel and or shift issues
• Lead, coach, and develop department staff
• Conduct periodic and end of year performance reviews and attendance management
• Support hiring, onboarding, and training activities
• Maintain skills matrix and cross-training plans
• Foster accountability, teamwork, and a continuous improvement culture
• Improve labor efficiency, throughput, and workflow
• Reduce waste, downtime, and non-value-added activities
• Implement process improvements and standardized work
• Support production readiness for new product introductions (NPI)
• Must effectively coordinate projects simultaneously, sometimes with high inventory, WIP, and revenue values 
• Interacts with all Directors, Managers, Supervisors, Customer Account Managers, and departmental personnel, as necessary. Also regularly interacts directly with customers. 
• May require overtime or flexible scheduling based on production demand 

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Associate degree or technical certification (preferred)
• Experience
• 5+ years of mechanical / electro-mechanical assembly experience (preferred)
• 5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience of teams with 10 or more employees (required)
• 3+ years of experience interacting with customers (preferred)
• Skills & Competencies
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and work instructions (required)
• Must be able to perform basic arithmetic (required)
• Experience in high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environments (preferred)
• Experience with Lean manufacturing principles (preferred)
• Mechanical assembly processes and tooling knowledge (required)
• Root cause problem solving (preferred)
• ERP/MRP systems familiarity (required)
• Experience supporting NPI builds and engineering change implementation (required)
• Ability to compose and maintain spread sheets for metric/KPI reporting (required)
• Ability to multitask successfully while under pressure (required)
• Familiarity with spreadsheet, document, and presentation generation software (required)
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
