Role Summary Honeywell is seeking a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join the product development team at the Bangalore Design Center. The ideal candidate will bring experience in electromechanical product design and development, including exposure to New Product Introduction and product lifecycle activities for aerospace and defense applications. This role is part of Honeywell’s Sensing Solutions business, which develops leading-edge sensors and switches for rugged and harsh environments. The selected candidate will work with a talented team of design engineers to develop advanced sensing technologies for the Aerospace and Defense line of business.Your role will include overseeing, supervising and reviewing tasks performed by team members to ensure effective execution of work; managing end-to-end processes and projects for both internal and external clients with responsibility for timely and accurate delivery; issuing clear instructions and directions to team members on tasks to be performed; and mentoring and guiding junior colleagues to Support their skill development, professional growth, and overall success.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities- Own mechanical design activities as an individual contributor within a global engineering team.
- Execute mechanical design and development from concept through product release.
- Design mechanical packaging solutions for electromechanical products used in aerospace and industrial environments.
- Generate concepts, conduct design trade-off studies, and perform detailed engineering analysis.
- Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and ensure compliance with functional, manufacturing, and quality requirements.
- Collaborate with simulation, drafting, validation, manufacturing, marketing, supply chain, and other cross-functional teams.
- Assess product application environments, identify technical risks, and support risk mitigation through simulation, testing, and validation.
- Perform product and process capability studies, gauge MSA, design reviews, and engineering evaluations.
- Prepare test plans, technical reports, product validation documentation, and project progress reports.
- Support Engineering Change Orders and Engineering Change Notices, including drawings, CAD models, and related PDM activities.
- Create CAD models and drawings for mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and components.
- Support prototype assembly, lab work, and product improvement initiatives.
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering;
- 4–6 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in PTC Creo Parametric or Pro/ENGINEER.
- Working knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter or similar PDM/PLM systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in new product development for electromechanical products.
- Strong understanding of mechanical packaging design for parts, subassemblies, and finished products.
- Hands-on experience designing electromechanical products with mechanisms.
- Ability to translate product requirements into critical-to-quality design characteristics.
- Knowledge of engineering plastics, metals, plating, and material selection considerations.
- Familiarity with GD&T, ASME Y14.5, statistical tolerance analysis, design for manufacturability, and design for assembly.
- Experience identifying, quantifying, and mitigating technical risks through DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, and process flow charts.
- Ability to support quality improvement projects using structured engineering methods.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma tools and methodology.
- Strong technical research, documentation, communication, and presentation skills.
