Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Meal Preparation Specialists who are passionate about nutrition and cooking to prepare healthy, delicious meals for our clients in their homes. You will work with clients who have specific dietary needs, preferences, and health conditions, ensuring they receive proper nutrition while respecting their cultural and personal food choices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals based on client dietary requirements and preferences

  • Accommodate special diets including diabetic, low-sodium, heart-healthy, renal, gluten-free, and other therapeutic diets

  • Shop for groceries following client meal plans and budget guidelines

  • Prepare multiple meals for freezing/refrigeration when appropriate

  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and follow food safety protocols

  • Document meal preparations and client preferences

  • Adapt recipes to meet nutritional requirements while maintaining taste and appeal

  • Educate clients and families about nutrition and healthy eating habits

  • Monitor food inventory and expiration dates

  • Respect cultural, religious, and personal food preferences

Required Qualifications

MANDATORY:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in meal preparation (professional kitchen, catering, or home care setting)

  • Food Handler's Certification (or willingness to obtain immediately)

  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutritional requirements for seniors

  • Strong command of English

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed within the last 6 months

  • Ability to follow recipes and modify them for dietary restrictions

PREFERRED:

  • Culinary certificate or diploma from a recognized institution

  • Certified Dietary Aide or Nutrition Assistant certification

  • Experience working with seniors or individuals with health conditions

  • Valid Ontario driver's license and reliable vehicle

  • First Aid and CPR certification

  • Knowledge of multiple cuisines and cultural food traditions

  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices

  • Ability to work with various dietary restrictions simultaneously

Work Schedule
  • Flexible day shifts (primarily mornings and early afternoons)

  • Part-time and full-time positions available

  • Monday to Friday with occasional weekend availability
