MDS-RAI Coordinator –Full Time
Candidates are invited to apply for the Full-Time position of MDS-RAI Coordinator at Extendicare Scarborough Long Term Care home, a 147-bed home located in Scarborough, Ontario.
Reporting to the Director of Care, the MDS-RAI Coder is responsible for review of interdisciplinary and comprehensive resident assessments. Collection of data for the purposes of quality documentation management and adherence to the Minimum Data Set (MDS) and Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) requirements. providing support to the nursing and accounting departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for managing the co-ordination and completion of the Resident Assessment, Resident Assessment Protocols (RAPs) and care plans as assigned.
- Complies with MLTC regulations regarding completion of the RAI- MDS process.
- Completes accurate coding of the RAI - MDS and care plan documentation for all residents.
- Continually updating knowledge base related to data entry and computer technology.
- Chair RAP chat as required.
- Attend clinical team meetings as needed and available.
- Any other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years experience in Long Term Care, experience with MDS an asset.
- Current registration as RPN in good standing with the College of Nurses is required.
- Current RAI-MDS certification and Relias certification is required.
- Must be able to maintain complete confidentiality of information.
- Knowledge and experience with adult education strategies/facilitation.
- Strong analytical skills; knowledge in trending and analysing data.
- Well-developed oral and written (legible) communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills and strong problem-solving abilities with excellent time management.
- Clear aptitude for detail-oriented work.
- Strong understanding of Point Click Care and RAI-MDS.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be flexible to work variable shifts, self-directed and able to function in a fast-paced environment
Candidates will be required to provide a Vulnerable Persons Sector Police Check (acceptable if within 6 months).
Hours of work for this position require flexibility including days, evenings and nights as well as statutory holidays and weekend shifts as needed.
