Position Overview

The Math Boost Interventionist will play a critical role in accelerating student achievement in
mathematics by providing targeted, data-driven instruction to students below grade level while
simultaneously strengthening Tier 1 instruction through coaching and collaboration with teachers.
This role is designed to address identified gaps in conceptual understanding, problem-solving,
and application, ensuring all students can access and succeed with grade-level content.

Core Responsibilities


  1. Targeted Small Group Instruction (Boost Math Block)
    • Plan and deliver Boost Math blocks weekly for students below grade level
    • Provide small-group, skill-based instruction focused on:
      • Foundational math skills
      • Conceptual understanding
      • Problem-solving and reasoning
    • Use student data (NWEA, Interim Assessments, class formative and summative assessments) to:
      • Identify skill gaps
      • Monitor progress and adjust instruction
  2. Intervention & Acceleration (WIN Block Support)
    • Support or co-facilitate WIN (What I Need) intervention blocks
    • Ensure intervention is:
      ○ Aligned to student need
      ○ Focused on accelerating growth, not just remediation
    • Track and analyze intervention impact on student outcomes
  3. Instructional Coaching & Teacher Support
    • Partner with math teachers to strengthen Tier 1 instruction
    • Provide support through:
      ○ Co-planning and lesson internalization
      ○ Modeling instructional strategies
      ○ Observation and feedback cycles
    • Focus coaching on:
      ○ Conceptual math instruction
      ○ Lesson Plan Internalization
      ○ Academic monitoring and student thinking
      ○ Increasing rigor and problem-solving opportunities
  4. Data Analysis & Progress Monitoring
    • Analyze student performance across:
      ○ NWEA MAP Growth
      ○ Priority Standards (PSIC cycles)
      ○ Classroom assessments
    • Identify trends in:
      ○ Conceptual vs. procedural gaps
      ○ Student subgroup performance
    • Lead data conversations with teachers and leadership and support re-teach planning
  5. Collaboration & Schoolwide Impact
    • Collaborate with:
      ○ Math Team
      ○ Instructional leadership team
      ○ Intervention staff
    • Support schoolwide math initiatives and instructional priorities
    • Serve as a bridge between intervention and Tier 1 instruction

Schedule & Structure

  • Teach CORE math intervention blocks during block days (up to ~10 blocks/week)
  •  Utilize non-block days (e.g., Monday/Friday) for:
    • Push-in support
    • Co-planning
    • Coaching and modeling
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Valid teaching certification (Math)
  • Experience teaching middle school math (Grades 6–8 strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated success improving student achievement in math
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Data-driven instruction
    • Intervention strategies
    • Conceptual math teaching

Skills Required
