Position Title: Materials Scientist
Position Location: 35 Medford St., Somerville, MA 02143
Duties: Research applications, testing standards and analyze relevant competitive materials. Conduct research and develop world-class materials for 3D printing from initial lab explorations to validation and commercialization. Design and perform experiments and use the results to inform and develop materials performance improvements. Characterize materials through analytical, mechanical and/or other application-based testing. Document and present project results and findings. Collaborate with others to ensure materials print on our hardware seamlessly and reliably. Work closely with product management, hardware and software engineers, and manufacturing team to continuously improve our materials. Telecommuting is allowed up to 10%.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree, or a foreign equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Macromolecular Science, Materials Science, or related field of study and one year of research or work experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Must have demonstrated research or work experience with the following: materials development and bringing a material from lab to commercialization; analytical or characterization techniques for materials; knowledge with 3D printing technologies, specifically Stereolithography; experience in working with photopolymer chemistry; familiar with using Python script to control the printer printing process; designing experiments to evaluate variables; working in team settings; Microsoft Office or Google Suite applications; and communicating scientific results in person and in written format.
