The Role
Develop brand, campaign, fundraising, and messaging strategies for nonprofit clients. Partner with the EVP of Creative on major engagements, workshops, pitches, positioning, integrated creative briefs, and executive presentations. Help identify compelling ideas, challenge assumptions, raise creative quality, and connect creative work to fundraising outcomes. Progressively lead client relationships, workshops, and major engagements while developing into a senior creative leader.
Summary Generated by Built In
Our client is a faith-based fundraising agency, 35 years in, working with some of the country's most recognized Christian nonprofits and ministries: rescue missions, prison ministries, Bible translation, disaster relief, and global development.
The problem they exist to solve: causes with genuine impact struggle to compete for attention, trust, and donations. Most nonprofits do not have the internal creative and strategic firepower to close that gap. We do. And the people who thrive here care about where the money goes.
We are not looking for someone who has already done this exact job. We are looking for someone who is ready to.
A Creative Strategist or Senior Strategist who has been doing strong work and wants bigger problems. An Associate Creative Director who has sharp instincts but has not had the room to fully use them. A Brand Strategist who thinks in campaigns, not just positioning decks.
If you are creatively restless, strategically sharp, good with people, and eager to learn, keep reading. If you want a role where the ceiling is defined by your own growth, this is it.
The Director of Creative Strategy works directly alongside the EVP of Creative, across senior client engagements, brand work, campaign strategy, workshops, and pitches.
You will be in rooms it takes most people years to get into. You will see how complex brand and fundraising challenges get diagnosed and solved at the enterprise level. You will get direct, regular feedback on your thinking and your approach.
Over time, you take more. You run workshops. You lead client relationships. You present independently. The goal is not for you to stay in this role. The goal is to develop the next creative leader.
Work directly alongside the EVP of Creative on the engagements that matter most: brand transformations, major fundraising campaigns, executive workshops, positioning work, and pitches. Be in the room, contribute, and grow into the lead.
Help clients find the big idea. Take complicated brand or fundraising challenges and turn them into something simple and compelling. Ask good questions. Challenge safe assumptions. Look past the stated problem to find the real one.
Develop strategy across the full creative range: brand positioning, messaging platforms, campaign frameworks, fundraising propositions, and integrated creative briefs. Think about how one strong idea travels across every channel.
Get into rooms and help people think. Help design and co-facilitate workshops with client leadership around positioning, messaging, and organizational growth. Learn to lead an executive through a hard question.
Help raise the creative bar. Participate in reviews, flag when work is predictable or safe, bring outside thinking in, and help teams connect strong creative ideas to measurable fundraising results.

- Hunger to grow and be pushed by people who are very good at this
Helpful, not required
Experience in nonprofit marketing, fundraising, direct response, faith-based organizations, or ministry work. If you are eager to learn this space, the absence of that background is not a barrier.
The first phase is learning alongside the EVP of Creative and becoming an indispensable strategic and creative partner. From there, you build toward independently leading major client engagements, owning significant creative relationships, and eventually taking on the scope the EVP currently holds.
This role is designed to produce a creative leader, not support one.
This role is remote (United States) with regular travel for client workshops, planning sessions, campaign development, executive meetings, and presentations. Expect approximately 25-35% travel.
Mission alignment matters here. You'd be building the fundraising infrastructure for organizations feeding people, housing people, and translating scripture. The people who do well care about where the money goes, not just whether the send went out clean.
The base pay range for this role is $120,000 – $140,000 per year.
