The Role
Command and operate vessels safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures, SOLAS, MARPOL, flag-state regulations, and environmental requirements. Responsibilities include navigation, cargo and ballast operations, bridge and GMDSS equipment use, emergency response, risk assessment, mooring, pollution control, reporting, and crew leadership. The Master mentors officers and crew, manages vessel security and welfare, navigates challenging conditions, and balances commercial objectives with safety and regulatory compliance.

Execute voyages safely and effectively, ensuring compliance with all rules, regulations, and company policies. 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
The Master must possess solid knowledge of company procedures, SOLAS, MARPOL, flag state regulations, and emergency response. Proficiency in navigation, cargo and ballast operations, bridge/GMDSS equipment use, risk assessment, and weather interpretation is essential, along with competence in external reporting, waste management, pollution control, and mooring operations. Strong leadership, communication, team coordination, and mentoring abilities are required, with a proactive approach to managing vessel risks and security. An openness to technological advancements and modern software is crucial.
Experience:
Demonstrates strong leadership behaviors, consistently mentoring and developing the technical and interpersonal skills of officers and crew. Has a proven ability to safely navigate through special areas and a wide range of weather and sea conditions. Demonstrates skill in achieving commercial objectives while maintaining high safety standards and compliance with environmental regulations. Consistently reliable in urgent situations, ensuring the vessel’s and crew’s safety and security with decisive and effective responses.
