The Role

Job Summary

The Master Scheduler is to lead the planning and scheduling efforts in our dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role critical to ensuring we meet customer commitments while maximizing operational efficiency. Our business is low-volume, high-mix—serving demanding customers in industries such as aerospace and defense—so attention to detail, flexibility, and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or mathematics discipline, Data Analytics, Economics, Data Analytics preferred, not required.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in business scheduling/planning in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of procurement processes, manufacturing, inventory control, supply chain management, cost analysis, and ERP systems (e.g., EPICOR highly preferred)
  • Lead a light/informal SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) process, ensuring leadership is aligned on production strategies and constraints.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and business trends
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, charts, Power Query)
  • Knowledge of procurement, manufacturing, and supply chain processes
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., EPICOR)
  • Understanding of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Clear and concise communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to gather, define, and document business requirements from stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, finance, and IT teams
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the master production schedule, balancing customer demand with capacity, material availability, and resource constraints
  • Act as the central coordination point for production planning, material readiness, and scheduling across departments
  • Identify and address resource gaps, material shortages, and capacity constraints before they impact delivery
  • Lead a light/informal SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) process, ensuring leadership is aligned on production strategies and constraints
  • Work closely with customer service, sales, procurement, engineering, operations, and management to keep plans aligned with changing priorities
  • Monitor schedule performance and recommend adjustments to optimize throughput and responsiveness
  • Influence cross-functional peers and leadership to drive planning discipline and accountability, without direct reporting authority
  • Participate actively on the production floor to stay engaged with real-time constraints and issues
  • Provide forward-looking visibility on risks and help leadership proactively manage trade-offs
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes to recommend efficiency improvements and reduce waste
  • Collaborate with supply chain, operations, and finance teams to align business processes with strategic goals
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across departments and develop reporting dashboards
  • Map and document current-state and future-state business processes
  • Assist in the design and implementation of process improvement initiatives
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops and meetings to gather input and validate solutions
  • Support training and change management efforts during system or process rollouts

Other responsibilities, initiatives and ad-hoc projects as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods, and occasionally and safely lift up to 25lbs. The noise level in the work environment is usually low in and office setting, but occasionally loud due to cleaning tools and other surrounding manufacturing processes when working with production staff.

This position requires the use of information or access to hardware and documents that are subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be able to comply with the requirements of ITAR and other U.S. export control laws.  

Compensation: $77,000 - $85,000
