Company Description

Steeped in a tradition of hydropower, American Hydro is a leading supplier and installer of large equipment for the hydro electric industry, specializing in design, engineering, precision CNC manufacture, upgrades and servicing of high-performance, hydro-turbines and large pumps.

Job Description

Position Summary & Objective

Responsible for successfully driving the development and maintenance of comprehensive project master schedules that integrate all activities required to successfully execute projects, using the Primavera Project Management system (P6). This position plays a critical role in ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget, working closely with various teams and stakeholders to ensure effective achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs), such as schedule accuracy, adherence and on-time delivery (OTD) throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Functions Performed by the Position 

  • Develop robust standard operating procedures for the scheduling process, ensuring effective adherence to applicable work instructions, guidelines and procedures.
  • Drive effective collaboration with project managers, engineering, leadership, operations, supply chain and manufacturing teams to set priorities, monitor progress and help develop lasting solutions to achieve OTD.
  • Provide early warnings for any potential risks as well as opportunities using earned value analysis, float utilization, resource leveling, Monte Carlo risk analysis, and capacity planning.
  • Responsible for efficiently conducting schedule analyses performance to identify potential delays, and recommend actionable corrective action.
  • Strongly drive schedule adherence and change management by regularly reviewing progress, updating timelines, and communicating impacts of delays or changes.
  • Identify risks/issues/opportunities and help to provide mitigating actions to successfully reduce risk impacts, or recovery plans to address issues when required.
  • Drive effective collaboration with project controlling function to ensure clear alignment of cost and schedule for accurate project forecast.
  • Drive the enforcement of deadlines; identify and resolve scheduling conflicts, and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate unforeseen circumstances. 
  • Drive the overall creation, communication, and maintenance of project master schedules, providing clear overview of the project's timeline, deliverables, and milestones for applicable internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of EVM, forecasting, and project lifecycle management in a manufacturing/construction setting.
  • Proficiency with Oracle P6 software in a project-based manufacturing business environment
  • Strong Organizational Skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and effective daily, weekly and project life operational schedules, understand and utilize key scheduling methodologies.
  • Ability to effectively perform schedule risk management.
  • Knowledge of critical path method of scheduling. 
  • Detail oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong understanding of Epicor ERP system.
  • Lean or continuous improvement experience is a plus.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5 or more years’ experience production/manufacturing planning, scheduling, or similar role within project based heavy manufacturing environment with at least 2 years’ experience leading and managing teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office. 
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 scheduling software.
  • Proficiency with BI capabilities and fact-based analytics
  • Knowledge of Epicor ERP systems for estimating planning and scheduling. 

Licenses or Certifications Preferred

  • PMP certification

Key Success Factors

  • On-Time Delivery (OTD): Achieving and maintaining OTD is critical for success in this role. Ensuring that schedules meet customer delivery requirements is essential.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Success in this role requires the ability to work closely and collaboratively with engineering, operations, supply chain and project management teams to align schedules and resolve any bottlenecks.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to use data analytics to develop long-term production plans and adjust schedules based on changing factors such as customer demand and material availability.
