Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects the Magna’s Employee Charter.
  • Follow and abide by all government, Legal, and Magna rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Create production schedules for internal or external suppliers out of internal or external customer demands
  • Run weekly MRPs and Make necessary changes to MRP output as needed to ensure customer demand coverage
  • Communicate MRP via EDI or email to supply base and obtain acknowledgement of communication to ensure compliance
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers on a daily basis to ensure parts/goods availability while keeping inventory within pre-defined levels
  • Facilitate and manages scheduling matters within Materials department, as well as, other departments, locations and divisions, including senior management
  • Coordinate with other departments to address subcontracting or external manufacturing needs to ensure supply
  • Purchase required steel to satisfy demand for press schedule
  • Provide daily manpower requirements to production and HR to obtain necessary headcount to perform desired schedules
  • Monitor and report production KPI’s
  • Measure capacity utilization and analyze future demand to identify gaps and opportunities
  • Communicate with material analyst and shipping department to ensure harmonization of activities to meet needed objectives
  • Set schedules daily for all equipment and monitor production progress
  • If bottlenecks occur, define, communicate, agree on and/or report counter measurements
  • Identify need for freight expedites and provide written request to logistics department for execution
  • Communicate all critical steel and component shortages to Material Manager for further escalations
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers and/or suppliers
  • Create and execute Purchase Orders and Purchase REQ’s as required
  • Develop Kanban methods and pull system to optimize production
  • Schedules engineering changes in the system to meet customer timelines
  • Develops “ramp” plans with Program Management and Production Staff for optimum efficiency during launches
  • Negotiates schedule fluctuation with Material Planners to ensure constant component availability
  • Reviews and assess all engineering requests for timing and feasibility and complete associated activities
  • Coordinates on Break Points for file and interprets through changes and end of production
  • Establishes and maintains interdepartmental contacts.
  • Work with cross functional teams to ensure production readiness for new programs
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Have the right to refuse work based on safety or health concerns.
  • Work safely and follow all safety rules at all times.
  • Report any unsafe or unhealthy conditions immediately.
  • Know and understand all Magna, Federal, State and Local legislated duties.
  • Play an active role in maintaining housekeeping in the area and ensure that area of responsibility is clean, tidy and organized at all times.
  • Attend training as required or as assigned.
  • Know what to do in an emergency.
  • Know the operating instructions for all equipment and processes where you are assigned. Know the pre start-up inspection process, hazards, protective measures, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, start and stop procedures and equipment limitations.
  • Attend all physical examinations and tests including those required for respirator use and hearing protection.
  • Be knowledgeable about any chemicals that you work with or that are in your immediate environment.
  • Wear required PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, aprons, respirators and head protection.
  • According to OHSA of Ontario, Section 28, Subsection (1) & (2): A worker shall;
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Act and the regulations;
  • Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the worker's employer requires to be used or worn;
  • Report to his or her employer or supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which the worker is aware and which may endanger himself, herself or another worker; 
  • Report to his or her employer or supervisor any contravention of the Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which he or she knows;
  • Not remove or make ineffective any protective device
  • Not use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger himself, herself or any other worker; or    
  • Not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running, or rough and boisterous conduct. 
  • In addition to the above, a worker is responsible to ensure that they;
  • Are in compliance with all rules and regulations
  • Are in compliance with all Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Are in compliance with all Environmental policies and procedures

SALARY RANGE $ 72,200 - $80,000
