The Master Planner is responsible for developing, executing, and continuously improving production planning and material management processes across the organization. This position serves as the subject matter expert for master scheduling, capacity planning, ERP/MRP planning systems, inventory strategy, material flow, and replenishment methodologies. The role balances daily production planning requirements with long-term system improvements to ensure material availability, schedule attainment, inventory optimization, and customer satisfaction.


Working closely with the Supply Chain Manager, the Master Planner supports the development of scalable planning and material management processes while providing expertise, analysis, and recommendations that improve operational performance.

What you will do:
  • Develop, maintain, and execute master production schedules that align customer demand, material availability, capacity, and business priorities.
  • Analyze customer demand, forecast requirements, inventory levels, and production capacity to maintain schedule stability and delivery performance.
  • Monitor and manage work-in-progress (WIP) to support production flow and schedule attainment.
  • Serve as the site's ERP/MRP planning expert and maintain planning parameters, scheduling policies, and system governance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Plan for Every Part (PFEP) methodologies and replenishment strategies.
  • Design, implement, and sustain pull systems, Kanban programs, Min/Max strategies, reorder methodologies, and other material replenishment systems.
  • Lead planning and material flow improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving delivery performance, and supporting business growth.
  • Identify and resolve systemic issues impacting planning accuracy, schedule attainment, inventory performance, and material availability.
  • Develop and maintain planning policies, standard work, and process documentation to drive consistency and process discipline.
  • Track and report key performance indicators including schedule attainment, inventory health, capacity utilization, planning accuracy, throughput, and material availability.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Finance, and Production Control to resolve issues affecting production performance and customer delivery.
  • Support S&OP, demand planning, inventory planning, and new product introduction activities through data analysis and operational recommendations.
  • Provide technical mentorship and day-to-day guidance to Production Planning and Production Control personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5-10 years of experience in production planning, master scheduling, materials management, supply chain, and / or manufacturing operations.
  • Extensive experience with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing production schedules and managing capacity planning activities.
  • Experience implementing inventory management, PFEP, replenishment, Kanban, Min/Max, or pull-system methodologies preferred.
  • APICS/ASCM certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.

Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.

Vision: Visual acuity of 20/25 minimum, including color perception, adequate to perform job duties including visual examination of manufactured parts and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.

Other: May require infrequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting co-workers when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite duties. May requires bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted periodically throughout a regular work shift.

Pay Range

$85,000 - $110,000

Skills Required
