Job Profile Summary:
The Sr. Manager, Marketing Technology will be responsible for the improvement and development of our Field Martech stack, a platform which optimizes the prospecting capability of our 8,000 financial advisors. These capabilities allow Northwestern Mutual Advisors to market their businesses in their local market, to build awareness and drive leads. This individual will join a team responsible for the success of these capabilities (either an in-house solution or a vendor-hosted tool) along with driving requirements of new tools and improvements to existing tools, such as web, social, and events. This individual will be a trusted partner and work cross-functionally across the organization building positive relationships with Marketing, Product, and Engineering to advance core projects and initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Help define what the future field MarTech roadmap needs to be by interviewing partners and integrating into the enterprise roadmap.
  • Maintain and evolve our field marketing technologies, inclusive of field websites hosted internally and externally, field social, event management capabilities, as well as other digital marketing tools.
  • Capture technical requirements and deliver requirements to our implementation teams, develop user stories, define testing criteria, and partner with business team members on UAT testing.
  • Build and manage relationships with internal partners to support the use and promotion of our marketing tools and lead multiple vendor partnerships.
  • Monitor, review, and recommend marketing technology stacks for enhanced field engagement and track overall field usage.
  • Work across marketing, product, and engineering to develop a best-in-class MarTech stack, technical strategy and field MarTech roadmap. Evaluate and align the marketing technology stack to the sales funnel and identify gaps and redundancies.
  • Stay ahead of technology trends and industry best practices, have a growth mindset to educate yourself, and influence others to seek best-in-class solutions to solve business challenges.
  • Partner with other business and technology strategists to develop use cases to define business needs and find opportunities for improvement or increased adoption.
  • Partner with enterprise stakeholders including legal, privacy, internal business and technology strategists who drive our Field MarTech relationships and third-party marketing and advertising agencies.


Qualifications, knowledge, skills and/or abilities:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience supporting or implementing marketing technology solutions.
  • A strong understanding of business-to-consumer marketing practices, digital marketing, and customer online experience.
  • Knowledge of web and mobile technologies and familiarity with how the digital ecosystem is evolving.
  • Knowledge or experience with any of the following a plus: social media platforms (Sprinklr, Hearsay Social), event management platforms (cVent), web analytics (google analytics, Abobe), SEO, Local Listings Management, website CRM systems, or front-end web development languages (html, javascript, css).
  • Outstanding communicator and comfortable interacting with a diverse group of technical and non-technical people.
  • Organized with ability to handle multiple projects with limited supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems using in-depth analysis and best practices to develop new perspectives on existing solutions or create new, inventive and enduring solutions.
