About the job
The Red Hat Application Services team is looking for a Principal Technical Marketing Manager to join us. In this role, you will guide the Product Marketing team for our diverse and growing portfolio of application development, focusing on APIs, API Management, integration, and messaging technologies. You will evangelize and demonstrate solutions based on industry standards and customer-driven requirements in the areas of containerization, APIs, microservices, serverless architectures, and event-driven systems. You'll work closely with the Engineering, Product Management, and Product marketing teams, as well as our Technical Field teams and consultants. As a Principal Technical Marketing Manager, you will also be in charge of the development of a compelling technical marketing and business plan to create success within the global channel. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Collaborate with the Product Management team to understand and provide feedback on the definitions of features and solutions
  • Ensure that marketing plans align with market directions and support roadmaps for and releases of our offerings
  • Support awareness by evangelizing technical capabilities
  • Participate in technical aspects of go-to-market engagements like roadshows, workshops, webinars, solutions demos, and industry and partner events
  • Support engagements where required in high-touch accounts worldwide by collaborating with our Field Sales and Services teams
  • Jointly create technical marketing collateral with field marketing teams, including technical presentations, technical workshops, whitepapers, and case studies
  • Create and carry out solutions demos for external audiences
  • Guide our technical expertise and vision
  • Work with alliance and ecosystem partners to develop joint value propositions
  • Collaborate with other teams to create technical marketing proof points specific to performance benchmarks and reference architectures


What you will bring

  • 10-15 years of software industry experience, preferably in an area of application development like API management, integration, or messaging
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science; advanced degree is a plus
  • Familiarity with and record of participation in relevant industry bodies
  • Domain knowledge of and experience with open source projects
  • Record of success in a fast-moving, technical environment
  • Solid written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Technical knowledge and the ability to explain customer requirements and use cases to engineering teams
  • Experience working in an inspirational, cross-functional environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities in a highly complex environment
  • Ability to communicate the technical value proposition for our offerings and promote our solutions internally and externally
  • Willingness to travel, following Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines
  • 5+ years of technical marketing, solutions engineering, or solutions architect experience is a big plus
  • Experience with API, API management, and service mesh technologies is plus
  • Proficiency in open source projects like Apache Camel, Apache Kafka, Apache ActiveMQ, Apicurio, Quarkus, Debezium, and Kubernetes is plus
