Do you believe that creators should have the ability to get paid for the value they give to their fans?

We do, which is why we're building Patreon, a platform that powers membership services for creators with established followings. Patreon strives to provide creators with insight, education, and tools that make it possible to retain creative control while running their creative business, so creators can focus on creating and energizing their fanbases.

Our user base has doubled in the last year alone, and we have paid over $2 billion directly to creators on our platform. In order to support this level of growth, Patreon is looking for a  Internal Communications Senior Manager  to join our People team.

What you would do:

  • Create and own the internal communications strategy, channels and calendar in partnership with the Chief of Staff and executive management including change management and crisis response
  • Collaborate with team members across all areas of the business to identify stories, projects, and topics that can amplify the culture, values and overall employee experience
  • Craft and uphold the voice and tone for Patreon’s internal communications, ensuring it's an employee-focused reflection of our unique voice
  • Build out and deliver communications across a variety of mediums – writing, video, internal events, social channels, etc.
  • Coordinate and share relevant stories and communications with key teams for inclusion in broader company communications, including our external employee branding efforts
  • Enable campaigns, moments and movements in a way that informs and engages our team members. Design easy and consistent ways for employees to access information and resources.
  • Support executive team and People team with planning and executing all hands, regional meetings, and other events that inspire connection across our organization

Lead our employee value proposition and employer branding efforts, including external benchmarking and career site development to increase our awareness in partnership with Recruiting and Marketing

Skills you possess:

  • A story builder and teller. You think in story arcs and see how experiences and moments can be transformed into powerful stories that motivate people to learn, do, and believe. You are experienced with multiple mediums, designing high-impact, memorable presentations and creative collateral in a variety of formats.
  • A master of organization in all seasons. You understand how important organization and thoughtful planning are to your success and use both to underpin the foundation of your work. You can problem solve creatively with an ability to think, plan, and execute on multiple projects autonomously and in an organized fashion. You have an incredible ability to work calmly and maintain good judgment in fast-paced, high-stress environments.
  • Agile and self-sufficient. You are flexible, enjoy challenges and get behind new ideas quickly. You get stuff done and are able to work with little direct supervision, but you know when to collaborate and engage others appropriately.
  • A subject matter expert. You've got 8-12 years of experience working with and advising executives on messaging, campaigns and long-term efforts. Expert in crisis communication strategies  and change management. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Social media campaign management and Employee Value Proposition work a plus.

Projects you may work on:

  • Developing our Employee Value Proposition
  • Refining our company meeting strategy and all employee touch points
  • Developing our change management philosophy and practices to drive deeper employee connection and engagement

What you will have the chance to learn:

  • Building a internal communications strategy from the ground up in a scaling organization

Who you'll work with:

At Patreon, you'll join a high-performing and highly-empathetic team of people who proudly work on fulfilling our mission of funding the creative class. Our culture of creator-first, thoughtful teammates keeps work creative, stretching, and rewarding.

 Our Core Behaviors

  • Put Creators First. Patreon is nothing without our creators.
  • Achieve Ambitious Outcomes. Set, measure, and accomplish goals that deliver massive value to our creators and patrons.
  • Cultivate Inclusion. We want an environment that retains and engages the diverse teams we build.
  • Bias Towards Action. When in doubt, we take the next best step, then course correct when needed. We go out of our way to fix problems when we see them. We take ownership seriously.
  • Be Candid and Kind. Be extremely caring and extremely direct in all you do at Patreon, especially when it comes to giving positive and constructive feedback.
  • Be Curious. You don’t know it all, and that’s the fun part. Everything gets better when you’re curious. Things get more interesting, more clear, and more approachable. When you bring curiosity into the workplace, you’re growing yourself, your teammates, and Patreon as a whole.
