Marketing Trainee (Houston, TX)

The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern United States (GACC South) is seeking a full-time Marketing Trainee for our Texas region (office located in Houston). This 12-month, full-time paid traineeship, starting in May 2025, offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our Marketing Department, specifically supporting our Texas Membership and Event Manager with events and membership administration.

The position is compensated at $15/hour and includes 20 days annually of paid vacation, sick pay and 12 paid holidays.

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Assisting in the organization, planning, implementation, and follow-up of events in Texas; 
• Supporting the administration of our membership community by maintaining up-to-date information in our CRM System (MS Dynamics); 
• Engaging closely with membership to ensure member retention and continuously improve our services and benefits; 
• Assisting with creating and editing marketing material such as sponsorship brochures, websites, newsletters, and outreach texts/materials; and 
• Assisting with business representation services such as mail processing and meeting with potential clients. 
  

You will thrive in this role if you have prior experience with event planning or related fields, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience in customer relations or client relationship management is essential. Your proactive approach will be crucial in fostering positive relationships within our membership community. 

Required Qualifications: 

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Economics, Event Management, Marketing, or a related field; 
• Strong multitasking abilities and experience working effectively within a team; 
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and efficiently allocate time and resources; 
• Excellent communication and customer service skills; 
• Comfortable engaging with clients in various settings; 
• Proven ability to work independently and reliably in a hybrid work environment; 
• Strong analytical and organizational capabilities; 
• Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy; 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; 
• Valid driver’s license; 
• Exceptional written and spoken English skills; and  
• Must reside in Houston, TX. 

Preferred Qualifications:  

• Knowledge of event management platforms (Zoho, Constant Contact); 
• German language skills preferred; and 
• Familiarity with German business in Texas.

Compensation: $15 hourly, non-exempt position
