POSITION: 
The primary purpose of this position is to plan, develop and implement facility marketing strategies in accordance with departmental goals, objectives, standards of performance and policies and procedures. 
 
REPORTING: 
This position is responsible to the Administrator.   
 
FLSA STATUS:      Exempt 
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Develop and maintain business relationships with Discharge Planners, Case Managers, and Physicians to generate placement referrals 
  • Provide tours to perspective patients, family members or responsible parties 
  • Establishes marketing goals to ensure share of market and profitability of services. 
  • Develops and executes marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to ensure growth and expansion of company services and improvement of facilities census. 
  • Researches, analyzes, and monitors healthcare trends and demographic factors so that market opportunities may be capitalized on and the effects of competitive activity may be minimized. 
  • Oversees the organization's advertising and promotion activities including print, electronic, and direct mail outlets. 
  • Works with writers and artists and oversees copywriting, design, layout, paste-up, and production of promotional materials. 
  • Develops and recommends strategy for the organization which will result in the greatest share of the market over the long run. 
  • Achieves satisfactory Census Goals and share of market performance in relation to standards and to general and specific trends within the industry 
  • Ensures effective control of marketing results and that corrective action takes place to be certain that the achievement of marketing objectives are within designated budgets. 
  • Evaluates market reactions to advertising programs and census building activities and formulation to ensure the timely adjustment of marketing strategy and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions. 
  • Recommends changes in basic structure and organization of marketing group to ensure the effective fulfillment of objectives assigned to it and provide the flexibility to move swiftly in relation to marketing problems and opportunities. 
  • Conducts marketing surveys on current and new concepts or services. 
  • Prepares marketing activity reports. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL CAPACITIES:   (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices) 

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. 
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. 
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which includes an annual TB screening and physical examination.  
  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk. 
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.   
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. 

 
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:      
Primarily inside work, normal temperatures, some noise, occasional fumes/odors, chemical exposure and potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens. 
 
This job cannot be performed without exposure to the stresses associated with an intimate, 24 hour skilled care environment that delivers care and services primarily to disabled and cognitively impaired residents in an aging population.  Examples of these stresses include, but are not limited to: emergency health or safety response, weekend and holiday duty, unusual or impaired behavior by residents, family reactions to having a loved one in a nursing home, death and dying, oversight of state surveyors, ombudsmen and federal officials, presence of consultants and attorneys, and variable involvement of medical staff. 
 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 

Education:           High School graduate or equivalent  

License:           None Required 


Work Experience:   

  • Requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience in marketing in the skilled nursing industry 

Language Skills: 

  • Must be easily understood through verbal communication in the English language.   

Mathematical Skills: 

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, and volume. 

Communication Skills: 

  • Must have exceptional personal sales skills, communication and customer service skills, and be empathetic.   
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, discharge planners, physicians, staff and outside resources and agencies.   
     

Skills Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years marketing experience in the skilled nursing industry
  • Excellent verbal English communication skills
  • Exceptional personal sales, customer service, and empathetic communication skills
  • Ability to develop and execute marketing plans, advertising, and promotional activities
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide; fractions and decimals)
  • Ability to provide tours to prospective patients and build referral relationships
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, move intermittently, and lift/carry up to 20 pounds
  • Willingness to work in a 24-hour skilled care environment with emotional and stress exposures
