Classical California, America’s largest listener-supported public media organization for classical music, is seeking a Marketing Coordinator to help attract and engage a large and diverse audience of classical music fans across the state and beyond.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Brand Partnerships, the Marketing Coordinator works at the intersection of brand storytelling, live events, and digital marketing. This role develops and manages email campaigns, including the twice-weekly newsletter, designed to deepen audience engagement with Classical California’s offerings and encourage voluntary financial support.

The Marketing Coordinator will also help identify new ways to reach and build lasting relationships with audiences through CRM, inbound and external marketing, public relations, and events. Additionally, this role will support live music events and assist with day-to-day activities that keep the marketing department running efficiently and effectively.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Writes and/or edits copy for department marketing projects such as publications, advertisements, press releases, announcements, etc., as assigned.

  • Email marketing, writing and editing of the twice weekly newsletter.

  • Manage, coordinate and help run our Live Events, including staffing for the events, load in and load out marketing assets for the events.

  • Administers department marketing calendar, as assigned. Monitors schedules, production and distribution arrangements and other details to ensure timely completion and quality control of marketing activities and publications.

  • Works internally with the business office to gather vendor quotes/invoices, issues P.O’s and reconciles marketing expenses.

  • Coordinates activities to promote awareness of department services and/or products within the university community and/or to the general public, such as direct mail, telemarketing, advertising, publicity, community relations, special events, etc. Analyzes, monitors, and evaluates marketing efforts for effectiveness, as assigned.

  • Coordinates design, production and distribution of publications and other promotional materials, such as press releases, advertisements, catalogs, brochures, flyers, signage, A/V presentations, displays, exhibits, etc.

  • Establishes and maintains contacts with internal and external marketing professionals and vendors such as artists, designers, photographers, mailing houses, postal service, list brokers, advertising representatives, media contacts, etc. 

  • Coordinates work of contracted vendors, as assigned, and ensures timely delivery of goods and/or services.

  • Coordinates use of surveys and other market research instruments to collect appropriate information, as assigned.

  • Compiles and analyzes information and prepares reports and/or other documentation for management review.

  • Administers marketing budget(s), as assigned.

  • Coordinates advertising placement and schedules.

  • Coordinates appropriate use of university and/or department logos, emblems and indicia.

  • Researches and prepares budget proposals for marketing purposes, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree and 2 years of experience in marketing ; Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

  • Marketing, publications, public relations, business administration, communication, advertising or related field

  • experience.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree and 3 years of experience in marketing

  • HubSpot experience

  • Experience working live events

  • Strong copywriting and editing skills.

  • Expertise in Inbound marketing and CRM techniques.

  • Affinity for the Arts, especially classical music.

The hourly rate range for this position is $33.14 – $39.25 per hour .
