The Marketing Content Manager serves as a creative leader for a group of production and design professionals that power the Firaxis media team. This Manager shares in-depth knowledge of content production, distribution and publication to elevate the skills and capabilities of their team, while developing content and channel strategies supported by high quality social content for the Firaxis brand and our franchises, such as Sid Meier’s Civilization.


The Marketing Content Manager’s main responsibility will be in overseeing the day-to-day management and operations of the media team, delegating project work, while growing, developing practical expertise, and providing strategic input to ensure the team’s objectives are being met. They also foster a strong working relationship with partners to leverage our production capabilities throughout the full lifecycle of our brands and products from announcement, to launch and beyond.

Whether video shorts, GIFS, broll, infographics, or livestreams, the Media team’s primary objective is to engage our fans through the production of high-quality live, pre-recorded, video-based assets that meet the creative needs to engage, educate and entertain our players across earned and owned channels.


A more detailed breakdown of the Marketing Content Manager’s role and responsibilities on a day-to-day basis includes:


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Leads the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of media personnel, training employees and helping them to build out their skillsets; planning, assigning, and directing work; as well as appraising performance.

  • Directs execution of programs and process improvements within scope of responsibility while establishing operational plans for the group.

  • Ensure best practices are used and continue to develop our capabilities, improve our quality of work, and strengthen our processes while formulating recommendations on difficult important problems and issue.

Objective Setting/KPI Management

  • Translates company objectives into specific goals and action items, develops functional departmental  strategies and creates guidelines processes to support these strategies

  • Develop and maintain content production processes that allow the media team to produce content at scale, and document and maintain video production standards that promote best practices.

  • Guides the media team through production pipelines, ensures the quality of our content, establishes best practices for capture and editing, and consistently checks work against the expectations of our partners.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Works with 2K to create a social/community dashboard to help us track sentiment and engagement across core community channels in real time. 

  • Partners with community/video production on orchestrating a monthly report, highlighting overall volume of discussion, published content, player sentiment, most/least engaged with content, key learnings, and upcoming priorities.

  • Takes lead on collaborating with key stakeholders on marketing post-mortems after major assets of community initiatives are launched, summarizing the initiative, evaluating overall success against the KPIs/Objectives, and calling out key learnings.


Content & Channel Strategy

  • Works closely with key stakeholders to develop and execute multi-channel content strategies aimed at onboarding and improving player engagement throughout multiple phases and points in our games’ lifecycles.

  •  Identifies and develops content innovations that address player needs and game insights through educational and entertaining formats and messaging. 

  • Improve distribution of Firaxis content by collaborating on content strategies that help promote our work across 2K’s digital ecosystem while optimizing content publication best to promote the discoverability of content


Content Management

  • Works closely with partners and the team to establish content production pipelines and deliverables, from content briefs, to scripts, shot lists, and identifying additional content elements.

  • Helps ensure quality of our content, set best practices for editing, and consistently check work against the expectations of our partners.

  • Leverages skills in content strategy, looking at the best approach to integration of digital video content across owned channels to leverage in the creation of our assets.


Creative Content

  • Understands of how game capture works along with creation of SRT or other captioning files.

  • Has experience with editing short form videos for social media and YouTube using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite: After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, and plug-ins.

  • Assist with script writing and editing as needed for video and social assets produced by the Firaxis community and video production teams.

Livestreams / Live Events

  • Can function as a live-show camera operator and technical lead, helping to acquire certain or various shots and employ technical fixes in the studio during a live show.

  • Assists talent with any technical issues or needs during a live set, while offering a second line of communication between active parties.

  • Can manage the technical aspect of video production, from set design to talent management, asset management, and distribution.
