This position allows for a hybrid work schedule at our offices in Naperville, IL or New York, NY. There may be the opportunity to work 100% remotely from the following states: Illinois, Arizona, Connecticut, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin
This is an hourly, non-exempt position with a salary range for this role is $21.63 - $21.83/hourly for the Chicagoland area. We determine starting pay based on a thorough evaluation of job-related factors, including geographic location, market conditions, relevant experience, training, and education. This process ensures a fair and competitive salary that aligns with both the company and the candidate’s qualifications.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and execute strategic publicity and marketing campaigns.
- Support marketing director on top romance and fantasy authors, developing a brand strategy for them that goes beyond a single title’s publication.
- Handle media outreach to secure top media placements and trade magazine reviews.
- Create visual marketing assets for a wide range of social platforms.
- Write compelling press releases and media pitches to generate traditional and digital media opportunities for key authors.
- Coordinate galley mailings, including media, influencers, and trade submissions.
- Speak directly with authors to work collaboratively on publicity plans, including media pitches, tours, and events.
- 3 years of experience in Publishing or Public Relations
- Excellent promotional writing and communication skills
- Basic HTML and graphic design skills, familiarity with consumer design apps and programs
- Ability to work independently while contributing to department goals
- General experience working in Powerpoint, Excel, and Office programs
- Working knowledge of social media platforms as used for author promotion
- A passion for romance, fantasy, and the fandom that comes with them!
- Comfortable with public speaking (remotely) in large and small meetings
