SCOPE:

The Marketing and Communications Manager provides strategic leadership for ONWA's marketing, branding, digital engagement, public awareness, and organizational reputation. Reporting to the Director of Policy, Strategy and Communications, the Manager leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of ONWA's organization-wide Marketing and Communications Strategy to advance the organization's Vision, Mission, strategic priorities, and advocacy goals.

Leading the Marketing and Communications team, the Manager oversees integrated marketing, storytelling, digital communications, social media, branding, and public awareness campaigns that strengthen organizational visibility, engagement, and advocacy across Ontario. As ONWA's marketing and communications subject matter expert, the Manager provides strategic advice and guidance to Executive Leadership and departments across the organization, partnering with program areas to translate organizational priorities into effective public-facing campaigns while ensuring consistent, culturally grounded messaging and brand integrity.

The Manager is responsible for protecting and enhancing ONWA's public profile and reputation through strategic communications, collaboration, and relationship building, while using performance measurement, audience insights, and evaluation to continuously improve the effectiveness and impact of marketing and communications initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary diploma or bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years’ management experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field, including supervision of staff.
  • Experience developing, executing, monitoring, and evaluating an organization-wide integrated Communications Strategy, ensuring brand compliance and promoting a positive and effective public image.

SKILLS:

  • Experience leading marketing and communications strategy development and implementation, and coordinating marketing and communications campaigns and promotional materials and initiatives
  • Strong ability to develop messaging, and marketing content across digital, print, social media, and broadcast platforms in alignment with ONWA branding.
  • Experience managing social media channels, digital content, and engagement campaigns.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to coordinate multiple campaigns and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and coordinate workflows and deliverables.
  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communications skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience working in not-for-profit or community-based environments is an asset.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong knowledge of marketing and communications strategy, branding, campaign development, and public awareness communications.
  • Understanding of digital marketing, social media platforms, and content management systems.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous communities, cultures, and culturally safe communications practices.
  • Awareness of social issues affecting Indigenous women and families.
  • Understanding of public awareness campaigns and engagement, communications and marketing strategies and tactics for a diverse audience for an Indigenous women’s not-for-profit organization, including community members, government officials, funders, etc.
  • Knowledge of not-for-profit marketing and communications environments and funder expectations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite and digital marketing and communications tools.

Please know, this is an existing role we are looking to fill.

The full salary range for this role is $87,000 - $107,574. ONWA conducts annual performance reviews, and employees may be eligible for salary adjustments based on performance outcomes and available funding.
