Taoti is looking for a Marketing & Analytics Manager

Taoti’s tag line is “We move the needle.”  Which is to say, we’re all about making a meaningful and measurable impact.

Marketing, without those measurable analytics, is a crap shoot.  But marketing based on data and that evolves as result of what the ongoing analytics tell us is effective.  Those analytics not only guide the strategies, but they also let us know how we’re doing, in real, measurable ways.

This job is mostly about the ‘measurable’ part of our brand ethos.  Yes, it’s a marketing job, first and foremost.  But with a heavy emphasis on the data and analytics part of marketing.  Your job is to pour over the data to guide marketing strategies.  And to continue to pour over that data to figure out how we’re doing, where we can improve, what’s working, what’s not, etc.  We often think of it as a “data storytelling” role, so how you present the data and the analysis and recommendations you derive from that data is as important as the data itself.

Since AI is all the rage these days, let’s address that elephant in the room…

Probably in your realm more than most, AI has the ability to dramatically leverage your efforts and let you do things that you might otherwise not be able to do—at least not on your own.  Sure, it will boost your productivity by handling some of the legwork that used to take a lot of hours.  But more importantly,  it will also enable you to find patterns, anomalies, and create the sort of visual interpretations of the data that most marketing/data analysis don’t traditionally have in their bag of tricks.  We don’t consider AI chops a ‘nice to have’ skillset for this role.  It’s a job requirement.  (Tip: talk to us about how you’re using AI in your application.  And be specific.  Anyone can name drop the typical AI platforms.  But we want to know how you’re actually using those tools to do the work!)

Okay…enough waxing poetic.  Let’s get into some specifics about what the job looks like on a day-to-day basis.

Your work will span the gamut when it comes to marketing: digital marketing planning and execution, including paid digital media (SEM, display, app, video, audio), email marketing, web content, analytics, analysis, and reporting.

You'll be involved with everything from campaign planning to optimizing individual advertising tactics and informing results for clients across our portfolio.  But again, it’s still a marketing job, so we’re looking for your marketing ideas, strategies, tactics, etc. (with the data to back them up and improve them over time.)   We’re looking for someone who is always “in the know” about the most current digital platforms and advertising tools to recommend for clients’ marketing mix. We want someone who is a great data storyteller, translating technical findings to non-technical stakeholders. Our client base is very diverse, and with marketing clients like DC Lottery, US Figure Skating, the Jane Goodall Foundation, USAID, Geothermal Rising, and the German Marshall Fund, to name a very few.

Role & Responsibilities:
While it will vary from week to week, the majority of your time will be spent working with on client work and projects like:

  • Web & Digital Marketing:
Develop digital marketing plans consistent with our clients’ business goals and strategy. Establish indicators of success, KPIs, baseline metrics and benchmarks. Work on KPI driving planning and platform-specific tactics for web and content, planning campaigns, paid media, and more.  Manage and optimize Google Analytics 4 (GA4) implementations, conversion tracking, event measurement frameworks, and dashboard reporting to ensure accurate performance measurement across channels. Administer and maintain Google Tag Manager (GTM) configurations, including tag deployment, pixel management, conversion tracking, and data layer requirements.
  • Paid Campaign Execution:
Support our digital advertising executions. You’ll be planning, setting up, and optimizing campaigns in platforms such as Google as well as trafficking and supporting paid campaigns executed by external vendors. You’ll play a key role in helping clients with SEM, Display, App campaigns, SMS, video and audio advertising.
  • Email and SMS Marketing:
Support clients with creation and execution of email and text messaging campaigns. Design plans in line with clients’ strategy to meet  goals, build campaigns in email and SMS marketing platforms, and send campaigns to properly targeted audiences. Evaluate effectiveness using A/B testing, ongoing results, and engagement.
  • SEO & GEO Strategy:
Conduct search engine optimization (SEO) audits and ongoing optimization efforts, including keyword research, content recommendations, technical SEO analysis, metadata management, and search performance monitoring. Evaluate and recommend strategies for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), helping clients improve visibility in AI-powered search experiences and answer engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. Monitor emerging AI search trends and recommend content, structured data, and authority-building tactics that improve discoverability across both traditional and AI-driven search platforms.
  • Analysis, Reporting & Optimization:
Analyze data and performance metrics to identify trends and anticipate client needs. Monitor and evaluate campaign analytics to support data-driven decisions and campaign optimization. Play an integral role in developing insights, creating and delivering analytics and marketing reports.  Develop and maintain reporting dashboards using GA4, Looker Studio, and other analytics platforms to provide actionable insights for clients and internal teams. Ensure tracking accuracy and attribution across websites, campaigns, CRM platforms, and marketing technologies.
  • Content
Perform analysis to assess performance, provide recommendations to improve engagement. Support  A/B testing to optimize based on performance and feedback.  Use SEO and GEO insights to inform content strategy, content architecture, and editorial recommendations.

Skills & Experience:

We’re looking for someone who’s not afraid to roll up their sleeves and do the work. Understanding the strategy behind the tactics is important, but this person needs to be in the platforms, executing the campaigns.

Some key experience we’re looking for includes:

  • 2-5+ years of digital content, digital advertising, email marketing, SMS marketing, web and content marketing (agency experience is a plus).
  • Digital Advertising & Content Management: Direct, hands-on experience managing digital advertising, SEM, SMS, email, web content, and integrated digital campaigns. Experience with earned media is a plus.
  • Google Ad Campaign Management: Experience managing paid campaigns using Google platforms, including SEM, responsive display, in-app, Play, etc (App store advertising is a plus).
  • Analytics & Tag Management: Hands-on experience with Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Google Tag Manager (GTM), conversion tracking, event configuration, attribution modeling, UTM governance, and reporting platforms such as Looker Studio. Experience with data connectors such as SuperMetrics and Windsor.ai for dashboard development. BigQuery experience is a plus. Experience troubleshooting analytics implementations and coordinating with developers on tagging and data layer requirements is highly desirable.
  • Email and SMS Campaign Management: Proficiency with one or more email marketing tools and SMS marketing tools. Experience building trigger campaigns within CRM tools is a plus.
  • SEO & Search Optimization: Experience conducting SEO audits, keyword research, content optimization, technical SEO analysis, and search performance reporting. Familiarity with structured data/schema markup, Core Web Vitals, search console tools, and emerging AI search optimization (GEO) best practices is strongly preferred.
  • Digital marketing landscape knowledge: Current and always-expanding understanding of the digital tools available to marketers and how they are best deployed to meet clients’ needs.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to translate marketing and website data into actionable recommendations. Comfortable identifying trends, explaining performance drivers, and to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • AI: With the understanding that the AI scene changes almost daily, it’s not experience with a specific tool or platform that we need to see.  But what we are looking for is a passion for experimenting and researching to leverage AI on the job and truly make it an interincisal part of your methodology.

Logistics

This is a full-time, W2, role based out of our Washington, DC office.  We do offer a flexible telework policy that gives you roughly a day per week of telework (but you can accrue telework and use it as you see fit, just like PTO).

What’s the corporate culture like?

“Fun but focused,” as one Taoti put it, is a great way to sum up our culture.  We’re a fun and casual shop.  The kind of place where you can wear whatever, come and go as you please, and have autonomy over your own day for the most part.  But we take the work seriously and believe deep in the mission to make meaningful and measurable impacts for our clients.  All the perks and shenanigans and borderline irreverent tone are fun, but to really fit in here, you need to be about the work

We also believe in total transparency and open communication across teams and across ranks. Instead of chain-of-command, we want everyone to have and share their own voice. The CEO holds ‘CafeClutches’ just so he can hear ideas and feedback directly from the team instead of through the filter of management.
