JOB SUMMARY

Provides guidance to Market Participants and other ERCOT departments on revisions to the Protocols, Market Guides, and Other Binding Documents and facilitates development of ERCOT’s comments and Impact Analyses. Participates in the implementation of approved revisions into the Protocols, Market Guides, and Other Binding Documents.

  • Develops, maintains and/or supports business policies and processes consistent with, PUCT rulings and Board mandates.
  • Facilitates, or assists with the facilitation, of the Protocol and market guide revision processes and coordinates staff’s participation in the revision process.
  • Provides transparency into the proceedings of stakeholder meetings where revision requests are acted upon by synthesizing highly technical and potentially politically sensitive group discussions into concise and accurate summaries to preserve the history of the change process.
  • Acts as a liaison with stakeholder subcommittees and working groups.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with staff and Market Participants, especially in the Protocol and market guide revision processes.
  • Develops and maintains working knowledge of operations needed to support external and internal business needs.
  • Supports internal policies, procedures and workflows for the Market Rules group.
  • Develops and maintains strong expertise in business procedures and rules.
  • Identifies and participates in appropriate training to maintain current professional or functional skills and develop new skills, as required.
  • Escalates issues to the Manager, Market Rules in an appropriate manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Engineering or related discipline, or a combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge equivalent to a major in of such fields.

Work Experience

  • Level 1: No minimum work experience required. Previous experience in the electric utility industry preferred
  • Level 2: Minimum 2 years (in excess of degree requirements stated above) of progressively responsible experience in a market rules analyst or similar type role. Previous experience in the electric utility industry preferred.
  • This position is open to a level 1 or a level 2 depending on the candidate's level of experience that is identified.

What We Do

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) manages the flow of electric power to 27 million Texas customers - representing about 90 percent of the state's electric load. As the independent system operator (ISO) for the region, ERCOT schedules power on an electric grid that connects more than 54,100 miles of transmission lines and 1,250+ generation units, including Private Use Networks. ERCOT also performs financial settlement for the competitive wholesale bulk-power market and administers retail switching for 8 million premises in competitive choice areas. ERCOT is a membership-based 501(c)(4) nonprofit corporation, governed by a board of directors and subject to oversight by the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the Texas Legislature.

ERCOT's members include consumers, cooperatives, generators, power marketers, retail electric providers, investor-owned electric utilities (transmission and distribution providers), and municipal-owned electric utilities.
