Job TitleMarket Procurement Leader Japan

Job DescriptionYour roleYou will have the opportunity to contribute to the success of Philips Japan (Health Systems, Sleep & Respiratory Care, and Personal Health) by managing the local Direct and Indirect Procurement scope. This covers amongst other things 3rd Party Medical Devices, IT Hardware/Software and Services, supporting all Businesses and Functions. You will be driving the Business Unit connections through the Procurement Business Partners, and will ensure Compliance/Quality, Cost and Delivery for all 3rd Party suppliers  In addition to the Philips systems and devices in the deal package, this may include stand alone hospital offers, regional multi-modality deals up to large government projects at country level.
You are responsible for 230M€ spend through >1,000 suppliers.
Role purposeThe Market Procurement Leader Japan is responsible for developing and executing the Procurement and supply base strategy for all 3rd‑party products and services purchased locally in Japan (e.g., medical devices, installation, building works, maintenance, logistics, marketing, etc), totaling ~230M€ annual spend and >1,000 suppliers.Key responsibilities
  • Lead the Market Procurement Managers in Japan, ensuring strong team performance and alignment.
  • Drive supply base optimization, simplification, standardization, and supplier performance management.
  • Partner closely with:
    • Japan Leadership Team (Japan LT)
    • Procurement, Q&R, ISC, Business Units, and Functions
  • Ensure effective use of Srategic Suppliers to deliver value to Japan and Philips globally.
  • Support local-to-global integration, acting as a liaison between local execution and global procurement strategies.
  • Oversee Procurement activities tied to Philips equipment and services, ensuring:
    • Quality & compliance
    • Value creation & cost effectiveness
    • Delivery performance

  • 230M€ spend
  • >1,000 suppliers
  • Coverage of all 3rd‑party categories including Direct (medical devices, installation, building works, maintenance, IT products, and more) and Indirect (logistics, marketing, real estate, professional service, HR, IT, etc)
Background requirements:
  • Strong procurement experience in Japan (product/non-product advantageous).
  • Familiarity with Japanese suppliers, local business culture and Procurement policies
  • Japanese language fluency.
  • English Language fluency.

Minimum required Education:
Bachelor’s  Degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain Management or equivalent.

Minimum required Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in areas such as Strategic Planning, Category Management, Market Analysis, Supplier Negotiations, and Portfolio Optimization or equivalent.
