POSITION TITLE: Market Leader

REPORTS TO: Regional Director, Dotted Line to Vice President

POSITION SUMMARY: The role of the Market Leader is a developmental role that expands the scope and complexity of a District Team Leader who is transitioning from managing a single district to overseeing multiple districts.  The Market Leader will retain responsibilities for a small store count.  The role of the Market Leader is to drive the company’s key performance indicators by delivering an exceptional customer store experience through the District and Store Leaders that they supervise.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership

  • Demonstrate and ensure that the region embodies American Eagle Outfitter’s Core values.
  • Form partnerships with key business partners and influences across the organization.
  • Act as a leader amongst peers in the field and the Home Office.
  • Conduct productive & motivating conference calls & team meetings.
  • Deliver persuasive executive level presentations.
  • Proactively seek personal learning and development opportunities.

People Development

  • Recruit, hire, develop and retain top management talent.
  • Establish performance standards and hold the team accountable for the highest level of execution and results.
  • Develop an effective succession planning process to ensure employees achieve career goals and internal promotions support the growth of all AEO, Inc brands.
  • Train and develop District Team Leaders (Store Team Leaders where DTLs are not assigned) in all areas of job responsibility.
  • Develop individual development plans for District Team Leaders (Store Team Leaders where DTLs are not assigned) based on career aspiration and development needs.
  • Recognize performance issues in a timely manner and partner with Human Resources to develop action plans for resolution.

Visual Merchandising

  • Ensure that all visual directives are executed flawlessly and within scheduled time frames and allotted hours.
  • Thorough knowledge of product assortment and key items and work with allocation partners to ensure stores are properly assorted.
  • Shop competition and communicate current trends.
  • Analyze, identify and capitalize upon opportunities for increasing revenue and profitability.

Drive for Results

  • Establish and facilitate the execution of regional, territory or country business strategies that drive Key Performance Indicators (KPI) results that maximize performance and achievement of sales plan and KPI goals.
  • Lead the annual budget process for sales, KPI’s and controllable expenses for their respective region.
  • Communicate new process/program needs and play an active role in creating and developing solutions for the region, territory or country and company.
  • Plan and execute effective, productive market visits reviewing KPI performance, Human Capital, Visual Merchandising, Operations and key -business initiatives.
  • Hold District Team Leaders (Store Team Leaders where DTLs are not assigned) accountable for execution of all operational responsibilities and instills a high standard for compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain/Logistics, Finance, or related field required.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or MBA) strongly preferred.
  • 6 plus years of increasing experience in retail management; including 5 plus years experience as a District Manager.
  • Travel is required, at least 50 percent of the time.
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
  • Has the ability to relocate to, or reside in, key markets.

PAY/BENEFITS INFORMATION:

  • Actual starting pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to relevant experience and location.
