Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer in support of the Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (SOF AT&L) Program Executive Office for Maritime (PEO-M).
PEO-M leads a diverse maritime portfolio that develops, fields, and sustains SOF-unique surface and undersea mobility and mission solutions—spanning crewed and uncrewed platforms, combat diving systems, and mission equipment. Through close collaboration with Naval Special Warfare operators and strong government/industry partnerships, PEO-M drives modernization, integration, testing, and lifecycle replacement to ensure maritime forces retain lethality and survivability advantages in denied and contested environments. The organization also transitions emerging technologies into operational use, advancing navigation, communications, situational awareness, and training capabilities across the SOF maritime enterprise.
This is a full-time opportunity located at MacDill AFB, FL.
Responsibilities- Evaluates and recommends programs and development plans, utilizing professional knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
- Works with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed projects.
- Provides inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs and projects.
- Supports technical evaluation elements of market surveys conducted in conjunction with assigned projects and programs.
- Supports government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
- Provides advanced inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
- Supports contract modification and makes technical recommendations for change order approval. Supports budget control directly supporting the engineering effort. Provides decision support inputs for approval of plans, specifications, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies.
- Applies advanced tools to document and analyze the results of critical, complex activities and tasks.
- Plans, executes, and documents surveillance of design, development, and production efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in applicable engineering surveillance processes.
- Provides significant, expert-level support to government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of agency engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
- Completes advanced engineering demand tasks such as reviewing engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials.
- Provides expert-level inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
- Analyzes trends in performance indicators to assist government counterparts with managing Agency-level performance indicators, recommending corrective action, establishing lessons learned, and influencing the improvement of processes.
- Experience in US Navy or commercial submarine, submersible, or Naval ship design, construction or certification, and testing processes and criteria preferred
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and interpreting design concepts and ability to convey ideas and formulate working drawings using computer-aided design systems, graphical interface systems.
- Experience developing test requirements and overall objectives and preparing test plans to meet the requirements of the project.
- Experience evaluating state-of-the-art scientific and environmental/engineering technologies and incorporating them into the planning, design, operation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of applicable systems.
- Experience in the principles, practices, and policies of professional engineering program management to include program planning and budget cycles, and financial control/budgeting systems.
Preferred Experience:
Education and Experience: Master's degree in an engineering field and 8 years of systems engineering or systems integration experience in support of acquisition programs- Knowledge of SOF-unique acquisition processes is desired'

Skills Required
- U.S. citizenship
- Must have and be able to maintain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
- DAWIA Practitioner equivalency under the PWS, equivalent to DAWIA Level II, in Engineering, Program Management, or Science and Technology; or ability to attain within six months with approved customer deferral
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field
- 10 years of systems engineering or systems integration experience supporting acquisition programs
- Experience in U.S. Navy or commercial submarine, submersible, or naval ship design, construction or certification, and testing processes and criteria
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and interpreting design concepts and conveying ideas through working drawings using computer-aided design or graphical interface systems
- Experience developing test requirements and objectives and preparing project test plans
- Experience evaluating scientific, environmental, and engineering technologies and incorporating them into system planning, design, operation, maintenance, repair, and upgrades
- Knowledge of professional engineering program management, program planning, budget cycles, and financial control or budgeting systems
- Master's degree in an engineering field and eight years of systems engineering or systems integration experience supporting acquisition programs
- Knowledge of SOF-unique acquisition processes
- Maritime experience
