About the Role
Fasten your helmet and climb aboard if you’re ready to be our Maps Ops Associate. In this role, you will be an integral player within the Cartography team based in Jakarta. Focusing heavily on improving our map data with quality analysis and smart operations, you will primarily work to improve our maps data for better routing, reduce the map errors, capture traffic local policy and develop your analytical skills to find and solve routing errors due to map data. You will work to make our maps fit for customer’s needs and provide geospatial insights across the company. The folks in the maps operations, data science, product and engineering team will be your companions on this ride. Your efforts will directly influence our customer and drivers journey when using the Gojek app.
What You Will Do
- Create and edit map data with high quality using geospatial tools
- Leverage local insights and research skills to conduct quality assessments
- Use high-tech and low-tech tools and methods to collect and organize map data
- Coordinate with Gojek product teams and engineering to validate map data
- Communicate progress and results with Cartography and other Gojek product teams
What You Will Need
- 1-2 years of experience in geospatial data management and operations
- Proficiency in QGIS, OSM data structure, having experience in managing road network and/or POI data
- Proficiency in geospatial ETL, QGIS, Spreadsheet
- Basic understanding of product metrics, dashboard tools, and geospatial analysis
- Degree in Geography, Geodesy, Geomatics, Urban Planning or other relevant field of study
- Solid communication skills in English, both oral and written
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to perform basic spatial analysis to gain insights, paired with good communication and interpersonal skills, and basic analytical rigor/scientific methodology to design and develop project plans
- Familiarity in basic SQL or Geospatial Python libraries is a bonus

The Cartography team is a platform team that surfaces mapping technologies needed by all internal product teams and business units within Gojek.
As Chicken Rice is to the people of Singapore, the Maps Ops team is to Cartography: providing the nourishment and power to sustain our business from the inside out. Our main responsibility is to build data products for ETA prediction, mapping errors detection, map-matching, locations search and ranking, and reverse geocoding. One of our most successful implementations is the generation of new pickup points via unsupervised learning and NLP. We have deployed the pickup points generation and ETA prediction models in our main markets and are aiming at scaling it to the wider region.
While our team is based all over the region, we are a tight-knit group who are bonded by two things: how to grow our maps using strong machine learning, engineering automation, and strong operations and emphasize professional development around these areas 🙌.
