Job Description

  

Job Summary:

Supports Manufacturing/Process Engineers; provides additional bandwidth for Engineers to focus on their critical task and process improvements. Supports process and recovery of RMAs cycle time, recovery of excursion, quality inspections, and experimental executions. Supports multiple production lines in the Teledyne FLIR cooler portfolio. Executes activities such as production line support, engineering experimentation, equipment validation activities and production hardware processing per engineering disposition.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Process returned hardware for complaint evaluation, failure analysis and product disposition

  • Review data and provide support based on data analysis

  • Support introduction and development of new products and improvement of existing processes/hardware/equipment

  • Develop and/or execute experiments for the Process/Manufacturing engineers

  • Support continuous improvements (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S)

  • Support Tool Design & implementation

  • Support on-going (daily) production, as required

  • Review and update assembly instructions and travelers meeting all regulatory and internal standards

  • Work with production personnel to assist with training and techniques

  • Work to ensure all production protocols are in place and followed

  • Support required documentation for travelers and work instructions

  • Initiate disposition and rework of non-conforming products or materials

  • Report on manufacturing metrics

  • Support other engineering tasks for development of new products, implementation of new production lines, re-activation of production line-down scenarios, such as hands on hardware processing (rework or repair)

  • Flexibility for overtime is required as there will be periods of intense work

  • Maintain fluid communication with all related organizations (suppliers, engineering, Customer Service, etc.)

  • Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 25 lbs (and occasionally up to 50 lbs)

  • Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time

Job Qualifications:

  • Attention to Detail – Required to define explicit process assembly instructions for the manufacture of sophisticated IR camera systems.

  • Communication Skills (Speaking, Listening & Writing) – Required to communicate effectively with Assembly and Test personnel to both develop and optimize the necessary camera assembly process.

  • Continuous Learning – Required to stay abreast of new electronic and mechanical assembly techniques and processes defined both by internal design and external customer requirements.

  • Decision Making & Problem Solving – Required to respond to ever-changing production requirements, quality issues and process demands effectively and efficiently

  • Flexibility – Required to handle the often-multi-tasked manufacturing environment where multiple hats (Engineer, Inspector, Doc Control, Tool Designer, Assembler, etc) on a daily basis.

  • Initiative – Required to take the lead on all aspects of the job requirements, with minimal supervision and maximum efficiency

  • Technical – Ability to use hand tools for assembling and dis-assembling delicate components (electromechanical) and understand the physics involved in the operation of the devices for Failure Analysis and Root Cause Investigation

Knowledge and Experience in the following required:

  • 1-3 years of manufacturing experience

  • Understanding of manufacturing and processing operations, preferably in cryocoolers, infrared vision systems, vacuum assemblies and tight tolerance hardware

  • Electromechanical hardware assembly

  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.) 

  • Able to read and work with manufacturing documentation

  • Able to read, write and converse in English

  • Experience with handling ESD hardware   

  • Basic use of metrology equipment (calipers, rulers, micrometers, microscopes, multimeters, etc.)

  • Basic understanding of electrical and pressure/vacuum concepts

  • Performs production line support, engineering tests, equipment validation, and production hardware processing as directed by engineering

Salary Range:

$50,600.00-$67,500.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
